Little Venue Rant

So I called Rusty Pelican today to set up my tasting. I spoke with Don who was actually pleasant today. Since Heather left I thought Don was handling my event....since he called me and said he was handling it, I feel this is a good enough reason for me to think that way...Anyways. He told me today that he is not in charge of my party but Steve is.....Why hasn't Steve contacted me? As all of you RP brides know we are spending at least $10000 in that place so wouldn't it be a good idea for the new catering manager to CALL THEIR CLIENTS!!!??? I would have pointed out my frustration with him but Don said he was with another client. I think this is the first time I've ever been disappointed by RP. I just don't understand why you would not call your new clients....

My reception isn't at RP, but I had a similar issue... our coordinator at Bon Appetit also left a few weeks ago... and we were just told last Friday when I tried to send her an email!  What is up with businesses not knowing any kind of etiquette?  Or just being smart?

I know EXACTLY how u feel! We had to pretty much tackle Don at the bridal show after Heather had been gone for over a month. We got no phone call either of who would be taking over for us. Then we scheduled our tasting with him at a one on one meeting and he just scribbled it down. When we show up on the date for the tasting he FORGOT to schedule it!!!!! They were so embarassed because the manager found the scribbled note in our file. They made us some of our food but then Don called hte next day so sincere and sorry and we get another tasting. Needless to say i'm going to call and confirm the date.

Man for the number of people who quickly jumped off the Michelle Renee bandwagon...I can't believe so many people still use Rusty Pelican even though they have a crazy high $$ minimums and it appears from the complaints they have the worst event coordinators! Sorry this is causing you extra, unnecessary stress, I hope Steve calls you soon.

What happened with Michelle Renee? I was considering using her but I am very new to the board.

I went through 3 coordinators at the RP, I know your pain. They didn't always call me after they took over my account either. Didn't bother me too much since I didn't really get to involved with stuff until about a month and a half out (we booked them more than a year in advance). We ended up only having minor issues before the wedding, nothing major at all. I would suggest calling Steve to try and touch base with him. I actually never ended up meeting my actual coordinator until two days before the wedding and was able to handle everything I needed with her then. As for negative things being said about the RP, I'm curious to know what they are. Our reception was absoluetely flawless as far as they were concerened and went above and beyond anything we expected.

The only bad things anyone ever says is that Don isn't exactly a people person. But he was pleasant on the phone with me even though I had him completely confused. The reason people still book RP is because the food is awesome and the place is beautiful. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. It makes me feel better knowing that you went through the same issue but everything turned out okay. I'm sure everything will be fine with me I just like to know who I'm supposed to talk to when those little questions come up.

I have had the same exact issue the past week. Its frustrating because I was first working with Heather, then Don...and now... they are passing me off on somebody new and I basically have to start from scratch..Communication has definitely been lacking.
