To fake or to bake?

Hi all! I want to enhance my 'glow' on the big day and don't know whether to go for the spray tan or the sun bed? I'm really worried that the spray tan might rub off on my dress. Also I know how bad sun beds can be for your skin. Any advice? Thank you, Lou

Re: To fake or to bake?

  • As a medical student, please don't bake.  Is it really worth the extra chance of skin cancer to have some "glow?"  Try some different fake options and see if any of them work for you.  I like Jergen's Natural Glow.
  • i chose the tanning bed for 5 days, i went 2 weeks before so i wasnt super red. i had a nice tan glow. it depends on your skin tone to begin with.good luck :)

Don't bake!  I was actually thinking about this the other day and came across a video on youtube for a home spray tan called sunlove.  The tester said it doesn't stain.I think doing it with your gown is a little different, and I wouldn't do it the day of, but I would feel comfortable using something like that a day or two before.  For a professional spray, I have heard mystic tans stain--idk about airbrush.

  • Thanks everyone, I'll look into some of the spray tans in my area I really appreciate the advice Lou
  • Everybody's comments here are spot on about baking, HOWEVER, I did go for a spraytan in July - I wanted to try it as I was planning on doing it for my wedding.I was orange as an oompa loompa. I hated it!  I have olive skin so maybe that had something to do with it, but oh my, never again haha(but I am willing to bet you are beautiful in your porcelain skin)
  • tanning one time for a moment like this will not give u cancer.

  • It won't give you cancer, but it will increase your RISK for cancer.  It's OP's choice, and anyone else's, but I don't see the point of increasing your risk for something like CANCER when there are lots of other safe alternatives.  Like pp said, it's just one day, and is it really worth it?  JMO.
  • I did the spray tan it was alright I was tan. Everyone liked it was a little to dark for me. I have not the Olay for light skin lotion and I like it. Use it now for a week then when wedding time do it again. I using it 4 days WOW I love it even my stretch marks are tan and my butt :) Make sure you put it on every night and let is soak in so you do not get it on the sheets. It never came off by morning.
  • I had a spray tan. See photo below
