Room Blocks

I am getting married next April during French Quarter Fest weekend at the Omni.  The room rates the Omni gave us begin on the high side.  Can anyone suggest a hotel in the quarter withing walking distance of the Omni that I could get a room block at that would have more affordable rates?  Thanks!

I like the Place d'Armes- it's right near Jackson Square and they usually have very reasonable rates. It's a very charming "New Orleansy" type of hotel. They might be worth checking out. GL!

We got married this year during French Quarter Festival and we had rooms blocked at the Holiday Inn French Quarter on Royal....not sure how far it is from the Omni but the location was perfect for our guests! We were quoted $179 per night for fri & sat with a 2 night minimum.

I am also getting married at the Omni and got additional room blocks at Place d'Armes and Prince Conti Hotel.  They are under the same management which made it easy and are both reasonably priced.

The Royal Sonesta is gorgeous and we also looked into this for our block, but during FQF they wanted $295 per room and had a 2 night minimum.

St Louis Hotel (100$/night) and Inn on Bourbon (119$/night)  both gave me reasonalbe rates. Not sure if it is higher during FQ festival though.

Try the Monteleone.  It is beautiful and classic New Orleans.  They quoted me a VERY reasonable rate for early May 2010 (the weekend after Jazz Fest), and I can't imagine that their FQF rates would be over $200.

Not sure about distance to the Omni, but the Intercontinental Hotel on St. Charles quoted me $139 a night in Oct.  Since it is slightly outside the FQ (between Poydras and Canal), they may not be as expensive as a FQ hotel during the Fest.

I contacted the New Orleans Visitors Bureau.  Leslie Straughan was able to send out my hotel block request to all the area hotels.  Then the hotels emailed me with quotes.  I received a lot of responses and found my room blocks that way.  Here is her contact information lstraughan@neworleanscvb.com <lstraughan@neworleanscvb.com>And here is the website to the visitors bureau.  Hope this helps you! http://www.neworleanscvb.com/static/index.cfm/contentID/104/sectionID/1/subsectionID/104
