Hi! Just wondered if anyone had their reception at the pgh. zoo? Do you have any advice, oppinions, or comments you could share? I very much liked what I saw but have heard some mixed reviews. Trying to get the scoop before we give them any money.thanks :)

We had our reception there almost 2 years ago.   We loved everything about it.   We were in the tent not the aquarium.  I would be more than happy to give you advise and answer any questions.  Email me at sassyth at comcast dot net.  I'll do my best to help you.

I planned a work event there that consisted of cocktails/hors d'oeuvres and dinner in the Aquarium. We were pleased with the service / food and the people there were really easy to work with. Seating is limited and you have to BYOB which can be a pain. All in all, I was happy with the experience and would do it again, if I could.

This board always has very positive reviews about the Zoo!  Good Luck! And even though BYOB is more work, the savings are significant vs. a bar bill!  You can even return the unopened bottles!

Not too helpful with the zoo, but our venue was BYOB and it saved us a TON of money! I wanted to be able to BYOB when we were looking for a site. GL!

It's true that BYOB can be a cost-saver, I just meant it is something to consider when looking at the Zoo - or any venue that requires it. To me, it was a pain to go pick everything out and transport it to the venue / pick it up after. just my 2 cents.

I like the zoo, but they are pretty pricey. They also don't allow a tasting (at least they didn't when I booked) and for the amount that it was, I thought I should get a tasting. The other thing I didn't like is, if you have it in the aquarium, some people sit upstairs and some sit downstairs. The upstairs feels like the overflow area and can be a bit far from the main action.
