cake budget

I realize that the cost of a cake varies on how fancy it is, what baker you choose and how many guests. I plan to have 100-130 guests.  What ballpark of prices can I expect?  Can you ladies share how much you are budgeting for cakes for how many guests? I have to wrap my head around some numbers and I have no idea where to start with cakes. The Cake Guys said (on their website)there is a min. order of $650 so I am assuming to expect between that and $1000? It seems like a lot for 100 people but everything at this point seems expensive!

    We are getting a cake to feed 175 guests (we have 250, but we will have other desserts) for $300

    Think about it per slice. $2/slice is inexpensive up to $5/slice gets pricey. I think mine was around $3.25-$3.50, but she didn't charge by the slice. $650 minimum could include a groom's cake I think.

    I used Texas Star Bakery and it cost me $595 for both the 4 tier wedding cake and the 1 tier chocolate groom's cake. this price included delivery.

    Ballet Bride said it best--$1.50-$5.50 and up a slice or thereabouts is the range from cheap to pricey.  If you have a groom's cake, you can have a smaller bride's cake to meet your number of guests.

    I have a 3 tier square brides cake that serves 150 people and 1 split tier grooms cake that serves about 75 people, 40 double dipped tuxedo strawberries, delivery, and tax and my grand total was right at $700 if that helps.

    My cake was about $850 for 125 people.  We paid about half the cost since our reception site paid for part of it.  Dallas Affaires.  I can't wait to eat another cake from them.

    My cake feeds about 80 people, 3 tier plus a fake bottom tier, ribbons and scroll work and 3 different flavors plus deliver for $360. and buttercream frosting. Fondant is always more expensive. HTH!

    I am paying around $840 + $150 for separate delivery service for bride and groom cake, both very specialized and both serving 100-130. There are less expensive options but i fell in love with the designs and paninis cake-so delicious!!

    We are having a 4 tiered bridal cake that serves 125 and grooms cake that serves 60 and with delivery it is costing us $460. We HATE fondant so we are doing butter cream icing, which really saves a ton of money!

    Oh, I wanted to add that when you start looking for a baker make sure you ask what size they're basing their servings on. Most bakers will say that a serving is 1"x2", which is tiny for a piece of cake. To counter act that we are ordering more servings than guests so that we can have "normal" sized servings and not run out of cake.

    Like Ballet Bride said, I bet that minimum includes a groom's cake as well. Our 4 tier bride's cake which serves 150 comes right in at $600 ($4/slice) and includes delivery. The cake has a lot of fondant work and detail. I would say maybe like $3-$3.50 is average based on the qoutes I recieved.
