Royal Caribbean Mediterranean Cruise?

I am considering a Mediterranean Cruise to Italy, Greece and Turkey in July. I never been on a real cruise ship before (only a small 3 day one). I always heard great things, but I am worried we won't have the "romantic" honeymoon experience on a cruise ship. I am worried since we will be traveling in July the cruise ship will be filled with kids. Does anyone have input on this?
Thanks!

  • I don't think you have anything to worry about. Unless you are looking at an adults only location there will be kids and you can't stop that. We've been on cruises during both on and off times and it really wasn't THAT big of a difference... as long as the parents control their kids, they are fine LOL.

  • Thanks Belle! That's what I wanted to hear because I have my heart set on a cruise...

  • My FI and I are also looking at that cruise for July 2011.  We want to travel overseas but are deciding between travel by rail and the cruise.  I think it will be exciting to explore and sight-see on our honeymoon.
  • How funny if we are on the same cruise...

The reason why I am leaning towards the cruise is because in college I did the whole packpacking through Europe thing.. It was absolutley wonderful, but exhausting carrying my bags. I figured if we took the rail would have to carry our bags, but on the cruise we can leave our bags and get on and off at different locations. The downfall is you don't decide how long you want to stay at each location.

  • I did a Princess Eastern Med. Cruise a few months ago.  It can be as romantic as you make it.  Just remember, Med. Cruises are extremely port intensive... LOTS to see and do crammed in to a short time.  So a relaxing trip it probably will not be.  But exciting, adventurous and never dull.. it will be!   After 2.5 weeks away, I came home thinking I needed a vacation from my vacation :)

  • I was worried about the same thing! I really didn't want to be bothered with children on my honeymoon. FI and I went to sandals 2 years ago and had a wonderful experience, the only negative was FI is a foodie and didn't enjoy the food very much. I also went on my first cruise last month, and this sealed the deal! Children really were not an issue at all- I hardly had any run ins with any. If this last cruise is anything like our honeymoon cruise I will be a very happy bride!
