Double dating, that is.
FI's friends are 2 hours away and mine are an hour away and most of them are single, so we've been hoping to find some friends where we live to hang out with and all that.
We're pretty clueless as to how to find friends our age in our town of old fogies, so I signed up for a website and met a really nice couple. It just reminds me of the days when I was doing online dating. I hope they're as cool in person as they are online. So far we seem to have similar interests. It's exciting, lol.
We're also going to get into going to church ... I found one I finally want to check out so hopefully we'll meet some people there too.
Anyone else ever tried online dating or online double dating? lol

Re: Back to online dating...
Ollie: I definitely know what you mean. Guys (and girls) are so different online than they are in real person. The good thing is, we can be more relaxed this time because we aren't looking for a life partner, just someone to hang out with once in a while! : )
All of my cousins and school friends are at least an hour away and FI's are farther away. All his family is about 20 years older than him too, since his mom was 38 when she had him. And we can't meet people at his work because they're all old women. There is one younger couple there, but we don't have anything in common and they're pretty flaky.
So I'm crossing my fingers! I wish you all lived closer so I could hang out with you ladies in person! : )
I did make a pretty good friend online. We were excellent online friends and then he wanted to try to meet and date. I wasn't really feeling the chemistry to go there online, but I told him I'd meet him just as friends. I was right. No chemistry in person and he actually kind of annoyed me in person, so we stuck to being online friends, lol. But he also had some other issues and was so pessimistic, so I gradually lost contact with him. There are all kinds of characters online.
We tried to get FMIL to try online dating. She actually did go out with one guy, but then he never wrote her back so she just gave up and now just makes fun of the guys on there that she sees, if anything.
Online dating was wonderful for me though. I am shy and it let me show who I really am without the awkward first getting to know you part getting in the way. I still had that when I met FI, but at least he knew what was hidden underneath, lol.
So I'm hoping to find some friends through it too. I'll let you know how it goes if we meet them, lol.
And yeah, TK needs to stop rearranging posts as it chooses.

lol ok that makes more sense. Seriously I tried POF and it was like all of the other dating sites' rejects. It was terrible.

That was the worst part of online dating for me. So many guys seemed amazing online and then were not nearly as awesome in person lol

I've done the online dating thing before and it was ok. I actually ended up with 2 really great friends out of the deal from my days on eHarmony lol
I've never really thought about doing online double dating before. I didn't even know there was such a thing! We are terrible about meeting people as well. The only bonus we have right now is that we live not too far from where we went to school, and I have cousins that are my age that live in the area so it helps with meeting new people. We tend to rely on meeting people through work and then being introduced to other couples through them. I'm sorry I'm no help. I hope this works out for you guys!
I didn't even know this existed! Interesting, but pretty cool if it works out and you can find some couple friends around your age!
[QUOTE]I've tried online dating a couple of times (obviously), but it never started with me looking for someone (such as through a dating site), but more along the lines of interacting with people with similar interests and just going from there. But, my dad met my stepmom on a Christian dating site (I think it was plentyoffish or something like that). Funny side note: My best friend and one of my best guy friends met each other online and it turns out they didn't get along well once they actually met in person. Then they both found out I'm friends with the other one and it was pretty funny. Now they get along fine, lol.

lol I doubt it was PlentyofFish, there was nothing Christian about that!
And wtf? TK is being wonky again?

I like the online thing... it's so hard to make friends IRL. I wish you all lived closer!
If you don't see a neat couples group in your area- you could always create one!
I'll look into making our own group and see what happens, lol.
