1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
The wall next to my desk.

2. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
Post-its with various PCR cocktail volumes, protocols for some random experiments, pictures of FI and I, a picture of my grandpa, other sciencey stuff.

3. Would you ever consider living abroad?
Yes, but not forever. Maybe a year.

4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?
Yes. I had to learn them in elementary school and sang them for my high school swim meets.

5. What's under your bed?
Some random crap. Not a lot of stuff though.

6. Do you sing in the shower?
No.

7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?
About 600 miles - born in Rochester, NY. Living in Chicago.

8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.
Nothing really. Although I make weird faces in the mirror in the bathroom at work sometimes.

9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name?
No, thank goodness. I think he called me by an ex's name at the beginning of our relationship, just once.

10. What is the best compliment you have ever received?
This is a hard one. . . I don't really know. But I got chosen to be captain of my high school swim team my junior and senior years by the girls on the team - it made me feel great that the girls believed in me. I worked hard and tried to motivate them too.

1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
My nightstand. I'm still lying in bed. :)

2. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
Apartment-beige. Gross.

3. Would you ever consider living abroad?
Sure. But, like Schiano, I wouldn't want to do it forever.

4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?
Yep.

5. What's under your bed?
I don't even want to know. It gets scary under there.

6. Do you sing in the shower?
Yes. Every time.

7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?
About 300 miles.

8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.
Talk to myself, walk around in my underwear, dance to the music in my head.

9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name?
I don't think so. He would be grossly offended if I did.

10. What is the best compliment you have ever received?
I won the High School Heisman when I was a senior, and I know that was because my soccer coach talked me up, so I felt very grateful for that. I also have tutoring students tell me "wow, you're smart," on a pretty regular basis, and I consider that an amazing compliment because it's so simple and honest.

Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch? Ha nothing. 2. What is on the walls of the room you are in? My framed degrees and Supreme Court license. I've been meaning to hang a picture for the last two years. I fail for not having a single family photo, or photo of BF, in my office. I really need to work on this. 3. Would you ever consider living abroad? Funny you should ask! BF is interviewing for a position that would put us anywhere but here. We'd most likely be living in a developing country for the next 2-5 years. So yes, I would! 4. 1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
My contact solution.

2. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
A home-made sign to motivate me to not just sit and eat while I work, a copy of the Declatation of Independence (BF's), and some framed elementary awards my BF's mom put together for him (she still thinks he's 7, lol).

3. Would you ever consider living abroad?

I already have. I lived in Spain for 4 months. I wish it was longer, but I missed home.

4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?
I'm gonna say no, but I might be able to figure it out if I was given a couple of chances to think about it.

5. What's under your bed?
Mostly BF's junk, extra bed pads, pillows, and rubbers!

6. Do you sing in the shower?
I used to way more than I do now, but I still do it often if I'm home alone.

7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?
I have only moved about an hour away.

8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.
Turn the music on/up and put on my own concert ... usually while I'm cleaning. I also tend to wear less clothing.

9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name?
I was having a convo with my parents about my SO and an ex and accidentally said the ex when I meant to say SO, but that happened once and he wasn't there.

10. What is the best compliment you have ever received?
I have to say it was when I was a waitress in highschool and I went in to drop something off to a table and a little girl told me I was pretty. Kids usually don't lie when they're that young, which meant she thought I was really pretty and I just felt like it was more honest than someone saying it to make me feel good, lol.

I am also happy when people tell me they can see how far I've come from three years ago when I was 278 pounds, very unhappy, very unhealthy, and lacked motivation to where I am now at 165 and have clear goals and try to make myself better each day. I have been known to downplay it I guess.

Allusive and Irish -- I will probably be at work well after you guys have come home and changed into your sweatpants. I still have an 8-hour day ahead me; I just have weird hours. So don't be too jealous.

But, yeah, the sleeping in is quite nice.

1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?

Umm, my desk? It's pretty big.

2. What is on the walls of the room you are in?

A map of the world with stickers of all the places I've been on it and all the postcards I've received since I started working here, plus random work related things.

3. Would you ever consider living abroad?

I'd give it a try for sure, but I don't think I could commit to anything until I'm actually there. The only place I've been that felt like it could be home was New Zealand.

4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?

Yes, although these days it doesn't feel like it. I grew up with the English anthem, but where I live now I only hear the bilingual version. I need to work on learning the French version.

5. What's under your bed?

Two under the bed containers, one with craft supplies and one with purses and bags.

6. Do you sing in the shower?

Not really.

7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?

About 300 miles, but still in the same province.

8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.

No idea...

9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name?

Nope

10. What is the best compliment you have ever received?

Hmmm, I can't think of the "best" one off the top of my head...I'll need to think about this.

1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
The wall behind the couch in the living room.

2. What is on the walls of the room you are in?

Nothing. I live in a rental, so we haven't put anything on the walls. It's so boring.

3. Would you ever consider living abroad?
Maybe if it was for a limited amount of time, but probably not.

4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?

Yes.

5. What's under your bed?
Clothes and music books.

6. Do you sing in the shower?
Nope.

7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?
From the actual place I was born (i.e. the hospital)--about 12 miles. From the place I grew up--one mile.

8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.

Hmm...I would kind of say singing, but I will do that in front of people under the right circumstances. Um, I wouldn't take a shower in front of others. ;)

9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name?
No, thank goodness. I've worried about doing that, though.

10. What is the best compliment you have ever received?
I can't think of any at the moment.

1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?

A fan, alarm clock, pain killers, water bottle, jewelry box, desk. I'm still in bed (although, more like "just crawled back in to bed")

2. What is on the walls of the room you are in?

Ugly flat painted "I'm a 12 year old girl" blue-purple. I see no point in painting if I'm moving out in the next 6 months.

3. Would you ever consider living abroad?

Again? YES. I'd love to live in Europe again.

4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?

Well, the commonly sung portion. I don't know the rest of the poem.

5. What's under your bed?

A whole LOT of stuff.

6. Do you sing in the shower?

Nah...

7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?

3000 miles, give or take a few hundred.

8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.

If FI counts, masturbate. If FI doesn't count, be naked :)

9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name?

Nope. But when I'm really upset with him, I sometimes call him by my little brother's name. It makes him laugh, and makes me a little more frustrated.

10. What is the best compliment you have ever received?

Yesterday, I was working with a family who had been to our salon for the bride's mom and both of mom's sisters. I spent several hours with them, and they wanted to think about the two dresses she loved. On their way out, everyone hugged me and told me I had done an awesome job, and her grandmother called me an "angel". It made my month and completely made up for my lack of sales.

[QUOTE]1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch? Window next to my desk - except it's just a window to the hallway/staircase so everyone who walks down the stairs can look at my computer and see what I'm doing. And I still go on TK, FB, etc. all day. 2. What is on the walls of the room you are in? Right in front of me: An evolution card that says "evolution has no goal or foresight," a miniprep protocol, gymnastic class schedule, DNA ladder product sheet, enzyme info sheet (I have no idea why it's there either... I only used it once.) In my old lab, I had personal pictures, but since everyone can see my desk, I thought it would be kind of weird. Also - holy sh!t I'm a nerd. The rest of the lab has standard lab stuff - numbers for emergencies, signs for eye wash and emergency shower stations, hazardous waste instructions, and white boards advertising a happy hour that took place 3 weeks ago. 3. Would you ever consider living abroad? YES! I spent a month in Greece and could have stayed for at least a year. I want BF and I to live somewhere for a year or so before we have kids. 4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem? I think there's a verse that I always reverse in my head, like Christina Aguilera. 5. What's under your bed? We have a bed with drawers and a big storage compartment under it - so LOTS of clothes in drawers and random stuff in the storage compartment. I think there's BF's files, a desk lamp I have no use for, extra yarn for my blanket, stand for my TV which is currently mounted on the wall.... I LOVE this bed. 6. Do you sing in the shower? No. I used to back in the day when I had a radio in the bathroom at my parents' house. 7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now? Queens NY to Bucks County PA is about 2ish hours, depending on traffic, but I've never driven it myself (I don't have a car). 8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others. Look up recently purchased rings on Blue Nile. I like seeing what other people buy and how much they spend... and then judging them for spending a ridiculous amount of money (for some of them). 9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name? Only in my head in the beginning. I was with my ex for almost 3 years, plus another 1-2 years of drama after that so it was hard to break the habit. He was my only other serious relationship. 10. What is the best compliment you have ever received? I still remember the first time someone called me pretty - I was in 7th grade and this really popular girl told me I was really pretty. I was shocked, I never thought of myself like that.

1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
my purse, which is hanging on one of my cubicle walls

2. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
On the actual walls, an empty corkboard and a piece of artwork. On my cubicle wall, a calendar, various pictures & postcards, photobooth strips of me & BF, and contact sheets I use for work.

3. Would you ever consider living abroad?
Absolutely. The UK or Ireland would probably be my first choice. I told BF that if a certain politician is elected pres, I think we should seriously consider moving out of the country.

4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?
yep!

5. What's under your bed?
Nothing, our bedframe goes all the way to the floor.

6. Do you sing in the shower?
rarely

7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?
Umm, I live less than 10 miles from the hospital I was born in. But I did live in another state before coming back.

8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.
talk to myself

9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name?
Never. I didn't really like my ex by the time we broke up, so I've never given him much thought at all.

10. What is the best compliment you have ever received?
Probably the best compliment was at camp when I received this huge honor they give out every year to one girl. I know it's dorky, but I went there for 10 years and it's always been a huge part of my life. When I was younger, I looked up to the other girls who had gotten that honor so much. I got this beautiful handmade engraved silver bracelet that I still wear regularly.

Also, yesterday a guy at work hugged me and told me I was lovely :) (He has intellectual disabilities and was helping with a cermony we put on - it was sweet, not creepy.)

1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
My cubicle wall.

2. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
Cubicle walls are beigey-grey, office walls are white.

3. Would you ever consider living abroad?
Yes. I think it would be awesome to live in Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Ireland), or on an exotic island. I would never be able to convince BF, though, and I don't think I could be that far away from my family.

4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?
Yes.

5. What's under your bed?
Not much. A pair of flip flops that I nudged out of my way the other day, and I know that my water bottle rolled under there last night. Probably some dust bunnies, but that is about it.

6. Do you sing in the shower?
Yes. My favorite belt-worthy tunes are "Son of a Preacher Man" and "Piece of my Heart". I have no idea why.

7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?
About 20 minutes.

8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.
Masturbate? Lol - umm talk to myself & dance around. Although I dance around with people there too, it's just different.

9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name?
No, but I have referred to him by an ex's name by accident when talking to my mother. We laughed. The most embarassing was when he met my cousin for the first time - their names are very similar (Jon and Josh), and I kept mixing them up. It was really embarrasing. BF's mom called me by his ex's name once. It didn't bother me at all, but she was mortified and kept apologizing, even though I tried to assure her I was fine.

10. What is the best compliment you have ever received?
I would have to say the best was a teacher at my HS who knew my mom well (she worked there) - he said to her, "Courtney is a really sweet, genuine person. Just being around her makes you feel at peace." Definitely the most meaningful compliment I've received - one of those that I try to live up to as much as I can.

1. Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
The wall.

2. What is on the walls of the room you are in?
Sconces, a wall clock that is broken, a mirror. Man, we need some artwork on these walls or something.

3. Would you ever consider living abroad?
Absolutely. I've always wanted to live in France for awhile. I speak passably decent French and I love it there.

4. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem?
Yes, to the first verse anyway. In about 3rd or 4th grade, I knew the second and part of the third verses.

5. What's under your bed?
Dustbunnies galore. Been meaning to swiffer under that mofo.

6. Do you sing in the shower?
All the time. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes absently. It's the best place to start a vocal warmup--steamy and hot, good for the vocal chords.

7. How far away from your birthplace do you live now?
716 miles driving, according to Google Maps.

8. Name something you do when you're alone that you wouldn't do in front of others.
Eat stuff with my fingers.

9. Have you ever called your SO by an ex's name?
Nope.

10. What is the best compliment you have ever received?
I'm not sure. But I did have a lady tell me my character was very well-developed after a performance of ITW last week, and that was pretty awesome, especially considering I'm not onstage for that long in this show.
