Liquor Budget???

Is there a template out there or some quick and easy way to come up with a liquor budget. I want champagne at my wedding for the toast, we're also getting a keg. But I want some wine maybe a few selections of white and dark liquor. But I'm not sure exactly how much I'll need. I haven't finished my guest list yet but we expect 200+. I'm trying to figure out the most economical way to do this.

Hello Soror!  Congrats on your pending nuptials.  I am guessing that you and your fiance are purchasing the alcohol?  A soror in my chapter is a wedding planner and she advises not to do liquor unless you intend to do a full bar (with mixers and everything).  Chanpagne for the toast: if you get a sparkling wine from the US you'll spend less money and can budget about $100  Plan for wine, white and red domestic at $200 for the night.  Sorry, I can't help you with the beer.  Matbe ask a local beer distributor?

My FH and I are having the same discussions right now.  The venue will run the bar, but we are trying to keep the costs down.  We are expecting about 150-180, but some of these people drink like fish.  I was thinking about doing a signature drink, beer, and wine as a host bar and the rest cash bar to save money.~Janelle

Janelle- the sales representative at our venue has said the same thing. She said that a signature drink is cheaper. With that being said, my BM's are paying for the guest to have two drink coupons and after that, they have to get drunk on their own. Plus there is a bar in the clubhouse. dst-you need to call around and check into the wholesale liquor (avoid buying around holidays) and buy a box (usually contains 6-8 bottles) at a time.

another way to save money is to get some fun but inexpensive wines. Total Wine ( a store here in ATL) has their house selection and its like under $4 a bottle and its pretty tasty stuff. I think the rule is to plan for 1 drink per hour per guest. So for a 4 hour reception, plan for 4 drinks and keep in mind people who usually dont drink, may have a glass of wine or two to be social.

Thanks ladies. I'm in Total Wine all the time. I need to see if there is one there. My best friend also gave me a good website. We are paying for the liquor ourselves. I sure wish there was a military base close to my hometown in Michigan so we can get the liquor at a discount. My mom has already priced the beer and some reasonably priced wine I found out. I want to have a bottle of Perrier Jouet for my bridal table as well.

I'm thinking punch, beer, wine, champagne, a signature drink, and water. Anybody having soda or anything else at their reception?

Also try Trader Joes "Two Buck Chuck" I've heard great things about them! There's a bride (I think her blog is Budget Savvy Bride) and she purchased all her wine from them (1.99-$2.99 a bottle) and soaked off their labels and added on her own. I did my research on the wine and it's actually got pretty good reviews. Also if you know any military folks, ask them about any discounts they get on base on alcohol. We're buying all of our own alcohol and will have wine, beer (I'm just now thinking about a keg), ::maybe:: a signature drink and soda & water.

Msthompson,I will see if there is a Trader Joes in the area as well. My fiance is retired military so we get all of our liquor on base. That's why I'm trying not to pay an arm and a leg for it. But there's no military base close by where we will be having our reception. My brother may drive down and just take the liquor back.
