We didn't get it.  :(  We should have, but the other bidder was paying CASH.  Seriously, who has that much money lying around?Molly called them mob people, which is exactly what DH said! We're pretty bummed about it, it was a great opportunity.

Aw, I'm so sorry, Candice! It may not help much now, but just remember it wasn't meant to be. You'll find something else you love just as much, if not more!

:-( I'm sorry to hear it didn't work out. But at least you are out of suspense now, and can move on to looking for an even better house!

We're going to drive by some property after work today with the possibility of building a house.  That's so scary to me, but I really want this to be our 'forever' home so it would be worth the hassle to get what we want. DH tried to cheer me up last night by telling me we could burn down the house we didn't get.  Or at least throw a brick through a front window!  Lol.

What a bummer!  I'm sorry. Our realtor always told us that when it doesn't work out, it's because it's not the house you're supposed to be in.  (Probably because someone else would come and through a brick through the window!  :) )It will work out--you may be right that building would be a really good opportunity for you to have your forever place.  Good luck!

I checked with Granddad's secretary and he hasn't made any house purchases lately so it wasn't him. :( I was hoping I could pull some strings! haha :P Candice, lots and lots of *good house vibes* coming you and DH's way! But I am ALL for a brick in the window - mob or no mob - no one does that to our knotties!

Candice, if you didn't get this house, there has to be some reason.  It's definitely the "it's not meant to be" thing.  When things work out, it will be the right house (even if that means building).

Aww sorry to hear that!  Really, who does have that much cash laying around?

I'm sorry to hear that : ( I'm a believer in it wasn't meant to be.  You'll find something you love more.

Wow. That is crazy! Who has that much cash lying around, and what seller wants to get paid in cash, which they then have to take the bank....and the bank is going to be suspicious with a large cash deposit! So sorry you did not get the house Candice! ;-( I agree with others about it not being the right house. And if you build, you can have exactly what you want in the house, which would be a huge plus :-)

JBee, I'm pretty sure that it doesn't mean they are just putting a pile of bills on the table, but have the money in accounts vs. getting a mortgage.  Banks and sellers like that because it means in no way can the sale fall apart because of a lender!

JennyBee--you realize that paying cash doesn't mean they walked up to the homeowner with a silver briefcase full of twenty dollar bills right?  sorry to sound like a jacka$$, but when you said about the deposit, that's what I thought of!  :)  Paying cash just means they don't have to take out a loan. They probably have the money in an investment account/stock options/savings, so they can liquidate the money quickly and have the bank transfer it to the home-seller's bank to either pay off their mortgage, or put it into their investment account.  With all the talk about it must be a mob transaction, I just got this funny image of the buying agent handing the sellers an offer and a briefcase full of unmarked bills!  :)
