HELP! Reception venue change

We were planning on using our church's reception hall and adding all kinds of fancy touches to make it look much nicer.Well, now it looks like they sent us two different contracts with lots of holes and problems and extra charges that weren't on it when I originally reserved the space. So it looks like we're moving locations. It's not for sure, but I need to find a backup ASAP if so. Here's what I need:-holds 250 people-can provide own catering (I already have a contract with Be Creative Catering)HELP!

what about the Southgate Community Center?  I don't know their contact info, but I've been to a wedding there before and it was really nice... plus (if I remember correctly) the back is a whole wall of windows so it's really pretty.

Dont know what your budget is, but i am using the Cincinnati Club. they have alot of rooms, they are downtown, can hold 250 people, and provide thier down catering. They are really easy to work with, and extremely straight forward.

UGGHHHH nevermind Amanda......you have the same wedding day as me, don't go trying to steal my hall!

Haha, I wouldn't try to steal it. Budget is cheap, under $2000 if alcohol provided, under $1500 if no alcohol.

You could try Ft Thomas Community Center (in Tower Park).  It holds up to 375 and you bring your own caterer and alcohol.  GL!

I'm using Be Creative too but the deposit is so small you could always find someone else and get a new caterer. Since we're a date twin, I know that ALOT of places that I would recommend were already booked in December 08 for 9/12/09. GL

Music hall is a beautiful place.  That's where I'm having my ceremony and reception.  You can also use your own caterer there.

You might also try some of the senior centers in NKY.  I know there is one in Edgewood and one in Independence.  Not sure about capacity for either, but I do know they are affordable to rent.  They might be more likely than your typical reception venue to be available on such short notice.  Also, you could look into using a different church's reception hall.  I have been to receptions at St. Pius, St. Cecilia, St. Joe's, and probably others I can't think of right now.

If the contract you signed didn't mention those charges, I say argue about it. I can't believe a church would screw you like that, that's terrible. A contract is a binding agreement. What kind of extra charges are there? Does the contract say those things are included in the price or did the person you talked to tell you it would be? Maybe it's at least worth haggling about and coming to a compromise.I'm just thinking you might end up with extra charges at other places too. Some charge a percentage of the catering fee in addition to room rental. I think the Music Hall does. Good luck.
