  I felt the EXACT same way (exact same price too.) I was wanting to spend around $400-$600 but in the end the dress that I fell in love with was $950. I ended up buying it...because every dress I looked at after that felt wrong. I was afraid if I bought another dress that I didn't give me that "I never want to take this off" feeling, that I would regret it in the end. The way that I felt less guilty about it, was saving money in other areas. The dress was in my budget, but it felt SO WRONG to spend that money regardless (I kept thinking “I‘m only wearing this once!”). It didn't take long to save a couple hundred dollars elsewhere. Ei: I'm skipping the disposable camera thing at everyone’s table…Instead of having a hair dresser come to my place and do hair and make-up,, I found a cheaper salon that I will go to…Instead of paying for BM's hair and make-up I'm just paying for hair, and they can choose to have their make-up done or not. It helped me to feel less guilty! I can't tell you what to do, but its always an option for easing the guilt... Regardless, its in your budget so don’t panic…at least its not some $3000 dress!!!

  If it helps the dress was $950. Some people tell me that is average to spend others think it's ridiculous.This definitely isn't ridiculous. According to my budget my dress needed to be like $300, but after browsing and getting an idea of average prices for what I liked I decided as long as I was under $1,000.00 I wouldn't feel too guilty about it. Ironically, I found a dress for $90.If you love it get it, especially since it's in your budget. I understand how you feel about spending all that money, but heck, it's your wedding dress! Go for it!

  My dress was 800$ more than I was looking to spend and  was $2,000 WITH a discount from the store. I havent regretted it at all. My dress is my most favorite thing I have ever bought for myself. To compensate, we went with a less expensive florist. I know she will do wonderful work, it just wont be as "arty" as some of the other places were we looking at. It is a once in a life time purchase (hopefully at least) and while $950 IS a lot of money, it much less than many others pay! Treat yourself if you can:)

  This is the way I feel.  I think I can skimp in some other areas to make up for the dress.  In the end I think I will be much happier if I get the perfect dress instead of a million flowers or an expensive cake.  Thanks ladies!

  I wanted to stay under $800 and the one I'm fairly certain I'm buying is $1275 (damn silk!) I was really stressing over it but once my mom saw it she wanted to order it. We get about $150 knocked off if we pay cash in full.

  Oh yeah, that totally happened to me too! Except the price tag was singing to the tune of over $4000 (luckily, I got it at a discount). I WISH I could've found my dream dress for $950. One of my good friends is getting married soon too, and we both had a similar experience. I tried this dress on-on a whim b\c it looked ridiculous on the hanger, and I couldn't take it off, i couldn't stop thinking about it or looking it up online or e-mailing pictures to friends. My friends insisted I shop around more, but all I did was waste time and gas because nothing compared to "the one" (kinda like my FH). Enjoy your dress. If it feels that great and you can afford it, it's meant to be yours.

  You know what - it's your wedding dress, in 10 years your gonna look back and not even remember the price, only how amazing the dress was. But you will regret not getting the one due to price. I had been a BM in a few weddings (for sisters) prior to my own, so I knew the range for a nice, quality designer gown (and you can tell the diff between a DB gown and a designer gown). I actually budgeted 2500 for my dress, and ended up spending less. woo hoo. I didn't feel it was necessary to really corner myself into a number - and honestly I didn't even look at the price tags of the dresses I was trying on, I just wanted to find something I loved and not let ANYTHING, even the price, cloud my judgement. (now if it ended up being 10 grand, I would likely be having it made...lol). But from all the people I've talked to, usually they end up spending around $2000 for dress and accessories.

  Try to find the same dress at preownedweddingdresses.com.  I found a bunch of gorgeous dresses that still had the tag and receipt for hundreds (and even thousands) less than the price paid.  Maybe you will get lucky and be able to find an unused one (or used if you're ok with that).  Good luck

  Ok so I found THE dress and it was $998. More than I wanted to spend. With veil and shoes it was $1200. So I did the next logical thing. I searched for it online. I found my dress online for $718, free shipping and a free veil and free pair of shoes. I saved myself almost $500. I really think you should search for the dress online. I found mine at bestbridalprices.com but apparently there are lots of places that sell dresses. Check them all out. Really, you're going to spend way more than you have to in the store and it just isn't worth it.
