On the subject of names, one thing I'm considering is simply adding FI's name at the end of mine as an alternative to hyphenating. So I would be Anna Grace Maidenname Lastname. I could sign Anna Maidenname Lastname, or just Anna Lastname.
I agree that changing my last name may result in me feeling like I am "losing my identity"! Currently, I believe I am the only Leeanna Lastname (I googled it) When I get married there will be at least one other Leeanna FILastname out there....but I agree with Mariah that it is a personal preference. Plus it can be such a hassle what with the driver license change and SS change. Will probably have to take a day off just to do that!
I sometimes get jealous of people who have family or friends who can do stuff for free or a discount for the wedding. Nobody in my family goes into creative stuff, they all go into business or medicine.
yeah, it seems like anytime there's a feature about a budget wedding, it's always because they have family/friends who are photographers, dj's, bakers, florists, etc. It makes you think it's impossible to do it on a budget if you don't have those connections, unless you learn how to make bouquets/bake wedding cakes yourself!
Lol, thanks Marissa! I think the Gossellin kids are adorable and I will be happy if my kids are half that cute! Donna, I seriously considered keeping my last name just because of the confusion of a white person having an Asian last name would cause. But then I thought that not having the same last name as my kids would cause even more confusion. For instance, my parents are divorced and my mom is re-married, so we have different last names. But when I would register for school or go to the doctor with her, no one could ever seem to comprehend that we were related because we had different last names. Like I felt like we had to go through the whole long story of my parent's divorce and my mom getting re-married before they finally got it.

I haven't decided if I want to change my last name yet either. FI is totally fine with me keeping it but I just don't know. There's only girls on my dads side so the family name wouldn't keep on going. Plus FI has an odd last name. Sometimes I want to knock FI upside the head!!FI to me: Are we having a parents dance?Seriously? Are you f'n kidding me? *sacrasm on* Yeah, sure. I'll let you bring that up as YOUR idea but regardless it's still my fault! Lets do the parents dance and have your mom threaten to boycott the wedding, yet again, if she doesn't get her way. Then if it does happen she'll throw a sh!t fit and throw herself in the floor during the reception if she doesn't get her way. *sarcasm off*Sometimes I wonder what he is thinking!! If anyone knows better, it's definitely him when it comes to his mom!
steph, I don't know if you watch Seinfeld, but you should look for this episode where Jerry goes on a blind date with a woman named Donna Chang. They chat over the phone, she quotes Confucius, she suggests a Chinese restaurant for their first date/meeting, and then she turns out to be... very clever tongue-in-cheek humor.
A coworker won the smart phone of her choice in a contest to submit the best idea to improve the area of the company we work in. She's really smart, so I was surprised, and was happy for her. Then I saw we had pretty much entered the exact same idea (though we didn't copy each other) She already owns 2 smart phones (including an iphone)
Anna - I haven't quite figured it out but I was planning to just move my maiden name into my middle name and take DH's last name. There might be some complications since the state we were married in didn't allow two middle names so our license has me with two last names. Hopefully it works out whenever I get around to changing it.
Oh darn...my review has been postponed until Monday at 4:00. You know, Monday's always suck anyway...but now it's going to be even more sucktastic. Oh well.
Why would you give a two year old a frappacino from Starbuck's? I know I'm not the poster child for healthy living but I wouldn't be giving my two year old a frappacino. I'm also watching this woman with a roach in her ear. While I can't see it, it's obvious that's what she's doing. And, even though I know, she still looks like she's talking to her imaginary friend.

And, even though I know, she still looks like she's talking to her imaginary friendLast week at Sprouts, they lady in front of me at the check out line was going on and on in Spanish (hand movements and everything). The cashier looked bewildered and it took us a few minutes to figure out she was on the phone. She had a bluetooth in her ear, but it was covered by her hair--you think she would have noticed all the strange looks she was getting?I'm not a fan of those headsets.
Me either! I had one for a little bit but when you drive down the road and people look at you like you are crazy, you really don't want to wear one anymore. Now I just use the speaker phone which isn't much better. Oh well.
I don't know who said it, but someone mentioned having two middle names -- you might want to reconsider! The social security form you have to fill out only has a spot for first, middle, last, and from what I understand, adding a fourth complicates everything (for awhile). If you want to keep both names, consider making your maiden name your middle name and dropping your middle name. I couldn't imagine not having the same last name as my husband and kids, but that's just me!
I couldn't imagine not having the same last name as my husband and kids, but that's just me! Me either!! My daughter has my ex's last name and I hate it!!! I'm looking forward to changing my last name.
My mother constantly uses a bluetooth and it drives us all crazy. We'll be talking and then all of a sudden she'll reach up and push the little button and start talking. Ugh! So rude. I was almost devistated when my dad got one for himself. But unlike mom, he only uses it when walking around his job site and never interrupts people.
My Fi is taking my last name. I could never have a diffrent last name then him or my children. My last name does hold alot of meaning to my family, so if I was to change mine I would hyphen it.
I'll also admit that I was really tired of people messing up my last name. It was very simple, and people always complicated it. Now they add an "s" to my new last name. I guess there's no escaping it. I also hate bluetooths. My grandmother uses one all the time, and it's annoying.
Alana and Manda - Thanks for the heads up, that will definitely inform my decision!Amber - I would be all for that, but I don't know how FI would feel. I should ask him
Thanks Manda - I have heard it's complicated but I had a friend who did it and I think it would be worth it. My current middle name is my mom's maiden name, which is very important to me. (If it were just a second first name, I wouldn't care at all.) So I definitely don't want to lose that. And I would feel bad ditching my last name, since that is my connection to my dad's family. I want to find some way to include them all, even if it takes a little while to figure out.
