Random Question...

Hi Girls!  My FI and I are taking an impromptu vaca...any suggestions for an inexpensive nice place to stay on the beach?  We were considering Ocean City, MD.  Suggestions for hotels, etc would be much appreciated!  TIA

Aww..I miss OC!  Do you want to stay on the boardwalk, close to the boardwalk or far away from the Boardwalk?

We don't really have a preference.  Whatever would be the best price.  We've stayed on 41st street and had a great time. I'm just not sure what hotels to stay away from down there.

If you're staying for a whole week, you could look for a condo.  My friends and I used to go every year and that's what we found to be best.  As far as hotels, we've stayed at the Spinnaker and the Seabonay, neither of which I would recommend!

I was going to minimoon in OC, MD, but it ended up being more expensive than a real HM in Cancun (yay for the swine flu!). Definitely go eat all you can eat crabs. That was like the #1 reason I wanted to go there!FI likes the Tidelands Hotel. He staye dthere as a kid every summer. We were looking into staying at the Breakers Hotel. If you go now, it'll be pretty busy, so you might want to stay away from the Boardwalk (in one of the hotels with a shuttle) to stay away from the noise and getting a more romantic setting.

My son is currently a Seasonal Police Officer in OC.Contrary to what Nuelsi said, attendance is down this year at OC and it's not incredibly busy compared to years past.I agree with her, though - try to get a hotel on the north side of OC and away from the Boardwalk if you don't want a lot of noise and drunken kids. :)I don't know if there is such a thing as an inexpensive hotel down there - *lol*Have you googled hotels in OC?  They usually turn up some websites that list prices for many of the hotels.

In 2003, my senior class had a huge group go. We stayed off 19th in the "Waldorf." It was a condo, super cheap, and really nice. It was just a few steps to the beach. Don't jaywalk down there, my friend got a ticket! :)

kwynn,Two kids have died down there this summer.  One was a student at IUP - he was riding his bicycle down the middle of the road in the middle of the night and a car hit him.The other kid darted out in front of a delivery truck, also in the the middle of the  night.  :(

We were in OC with my family one year, sitting outside an ice cream parlor eating.  A family jay walked and got hit by a car.  It was horrible, I think a little kid was killed, a stroller went flying, I'll never forget that.  People don't understand how dangerous it can be on that busy of a street.  Another year with friends, we were sitting on a deck bar and around corner a car went off an upper floor of the HoJo parking garage.  It landed on it's roof.  Stupid kids racing through the garage and missed a turn.  I hope your son doesn't ever have to deal with something like this Pam!

Candice - how horrible about that jaywalking family!  :(We were down in OC for my son's Academy graduation in June and I was stunned at how the young kids rip and roar up through town!My son works the midnight shift and was on patrol both nights (the accidents happened within days of each other).  Thankfully he was working the north section of town and was not on the scene for either of the accidents.  He just had to do traffic control. He said he was very glad he didn't have to see that - I guess it was pretty bad. :(

Yes! Let me go dig up the name of the hotel where my bro stayed for his HM! They loved it, and the lady that owns it is SO sweet (I arranged by phone to have her sneak strawberries and champagne into their room when they checked in, and she did it and trusted me to send her a check!). I'll be back in a few with the name...
