help please!

ok- wedding dress drama again.  Everyone keeps telling me I need to order by August...eek.  I went shopping with my mom this past week and I gave the people there the designer of the dress I loved at MB Bride (thanks to npales and Molly for texting me!).  I found this Maggie one that is very similar... and then I went to Davids- had a horrible experience, didnt like anything- so my Mom and I played around with dresses that I 'knew' I wouldnt like...turned out I loved one (of course).  votes? thoughts?

Sara, the David's dress is fuucking gorgeous.  You look AMAZING.  I think it's perfect, honestly.  I like the Maggie also, but girl, you have the body to pull off the David's dress and it looks so great and so YOU!

I like the 2nd one from David's the best out of the two. I wonder why she couldn't find the exact same one at MB Bride that you loved. That is sad to me 'cause I LOVED it on you. But the David's one is hawt!

PS- I think it's "you" because it doesn't have much embellishment, but the shape and the ruching make it FAR from plain!

You look gorgeous in the Maggie, but I LOVE the David--you look even more gorgeous in it.  It's positively stunning on you.  I love it.

For the Maggie, would you order the band in a color, or would it be Ivory? I still like the original Casablanca one we found! I am going to be really honest, I think the David dress is way too plain for you. You can dress it up, and it looks great on your body shape, but I loved the sparkle and detail on the one we found at MB. Just my honest thoughts!

Both look gorgeous, but my vote is for the first one!  But you can't go wrong with either!

O I can't pick!  You look drop dead gorgeous in both!  I love them equally for different reasons... good luck!

The Maggie took my breath away a little.  It is a beautiful gown.  What color would you go with? The David one looks AH-MAZING on you.  You can't go wrong, girl!  It might come down to some other wedding details...how formal do you want everything to be?  Or are you going with a more modern look?
  • edited December 2011
They both look beautiful.  But, there are things I don't like about each.  I don't like the black band on the Maggie.  If it comes in a different color, I would love it.  On the David's, I think it is so form-fitting that it makes your shoulders look very broad.  But, that could also just be the angle of the camera.  So, I'm not really much help :(

See, I love how the 2nd one calls attention to her shoulders. I would die to have a clavicle that showed. :P

Sara- you're definitely one of those brides who is going to have to just stop looking at dresses after you order yours.  I don't think you're ever going to have that a-ha moment (which is fine, btw, lots of people don't-- I didn't) and if you keep looking at pics and stuff, you'll totally second guess your decision.Honestly, you're going to look amazing in anything you pick.  You would look hot in a white paper bag.  We put some ugly dresses on you and you looked good!

::GASP!:: they are both absolutely GORGEOUS! i can't decide which one i like better either. i think the maggie looks stunning on you, and the DB one is flat out amazing. all i can think to find a way to separate the two is that the DB is super super sexxy, and the maggie is a bit more subtle but absolutely fabulous. i like the black band on it personally, but if you would get it with the band in a color that kinda matches the dress then it might change my opinion of the dress. i think the colored band makes the dress pop. no matter what, you will look gorgeous! if it means anything-i requested extra beading from maggie when i ordered my dress, and intend to have the seamstress add beading to the back of my dress (she already agreed to do this of course). so if you wanted to put beading on the DB dress, you could prob order beading (i had to get beading that would match the rest of my dress) and have a seamstress attach it any way you want. if that's something that might alter a decision for you. GOOD LUCK! (ps: wish i had the body shape that you do! to die for!)

what do the backs look like on these dresses?  Do they have the dip down back that you liked or the buttons all the way down? Answer these questions, and I'll give my honest opinion :P

Honestly, I don't like the first one (and not b/c of the band). I think you need a dress that flatters your figure more. The second is nice, but I do like some of the ones from MB Bride a lot more. Sorry, that probably doesn't help since I just conflicted opinions with everyone else, thus making it harder for you to decide!

I like the Maggie the best of the three you have tried. I love it and your face lights up!!I like the David's dress a lot, your body looks great, but I think it might be a bit plain. It looks gorgeous on you! Is it comfortable? Can you dance & sit in it?

LOL, you crack me up lady, with all your dress drama! I actually tried that David's dress on when I was looking too. And it was MY favorite at the time as well. I do remember it being a pain to walk in bc the mermaid flares pretty low. And I think it may have been a little heavy, but maybe I'm not remembering correctly (that was a long time ago). Both do look amazing on you and I agree with Chief Crazystance over there that you could wear a potato sack & still look hawt! I have to say of those two, I'm partial to the Maggie (esp if you'd do a different color for the middle).

I think it depends on what sort of feel you want your wedding to have. Formal? Traditional? Modern? That might help you decide, because every photo that's been posted of you in a wedding dress looks fabulous! (I'm totally jealous of that by the way!!) Both of these are gorgeous on you, but I'd be partial to the first one, just because it looks like it would be easier to dance / sit / walk. But that's just me. I'm really no help, I guess. Sorry!

Ditto Emily. What is the feel of your wedding?I have seen that David's dress on so many girls, so I'd go for the Maggie in this case if it is just between these two.I had a dilemma similar to yours: a sexy mermaid or a flowy empire like the Casablanca/Maggie. They were both really nice for different reasons.I got the sexier of the two, the mermaid/trumpet formfitting gown. I got it because my DH hates empire waisted stuff. So if you like the dresses equally, pick the one your DH would like more!

wow- I'm a b!tch!  That wasnt a p&r I swear!  My stupid internet stopped working at work.  boo. Ok- to answer questions: I think my wedding will be more on the formal side, and I like the modern look. Maggie is sooo comfortable.  David was kinda heavy- but nothing like npales' dress- that was crazy!.  Thank you ladies for all the compliments! My head is growing right now.  lol.  Um- Maggie only comes with the black or the same color ivory band. Honestly at first I was like' i hate the black, I want ivory' but I think the black really pops (someone else said this...) and I think I would get the black. I think that Maggie is more 'me' but the David is more the look I'm going for... I think, plus I think it looks nicer on me. Oh- and you're right, the David is a little difficult to wakl in, its tight down to the knees. I have a pic of the back of the David, I'll post in a second... I wish I could combine the two... I really cant decide.  Oh- and I think FI would like the David best, but he'll honestly love my dress no matter what I wear- he's easy to please

Sara 0- Is it not an option for you to go back to MB Bride? I liked that other form fitting one there (I believe that it was your 2nd fave from there) a bit better than the David's one and I don't think that you mentioned it being hard to walk in. Just an idea. What do you think?

You know- thats a good thought, I think I'll take another look at Jenny's album and maybe drag my mom over there...  Here's a pic of the back of the David... I dont have the back of the Maggie for some reason... but its not a 'V' back- which I really like, but it has buttons half way down the back- which I also really like...

oh, and about the 'clavical'-I dont even know what that is.  But it does not sound hot... lol.  I'm afraid to google it at work- I know how you knot girls can be dirty... j/k

wow- I didnt even notice till now, but the David has buttons half way down too!  yeah- I like how the David shows my figure more, but still isnt really sexy... (I'll have to post the little peice of wedding dress lingerie I tried on- too sexy for a church!)

Haha! It isn't bad! The definition is: The clavicle or collar bone is classified as a flat bone that makes up part of the shoulder girdle. Although it does say 'bone', so ... heehee.

Honestly, I still think I liked the MB Bride dress better than we liked.  But out of these two dresses, I think I would have to go with the Maggie.  The Davids Bridal is, like many people said, just a bit too plain for you, I think.  The only caution I would have with the black band is that your wedding is May and you wanted your colors to be, what, blue and green?  The black may look a little harsh with the bright, spring-y colors surrounding you.  But that's just my $0.02.
