When do dresses go on sale?

Hi there. So the dress that I would like to buy is a little steep. It's from the Spring 2009 collection, so it's already not the most current line, and I'm not getting married until Spring 2010. So if it's not brand new, it doesn't make sense that I should pay full retail price. Does anyone know how long it takes for dresses to go on sale, or be put into a sample sale? Like, are the sample dresses usually from a season or two ago, or years ago? Thanks.

I think it depends on the popularity of the dress, designer, and just other factors in general.  I was eyeing a dress for a while, which was fairly popular, then a few weeks later when I went to look for it, the designer decided to discontinue it.  I had to scramble to find a shop that could order one. Your best bet is either go to a small bridal store and make a deal (be willing to pay cash in full) or find the dress already preowned that's being sold. Good luck.

My friend worked for Reema Acra and she always tells everyone to go to the trunk shows.  You get alot off sometimes as much at 70%.  And they always have a seamstress on site to do alterations.  I believe you can look up the trunk show scheduled by each designer's website - they do post them.  And of course there's the Sample Sales - so if you have a small body type you can luck out with that. My wedding is some time away but I plan to look at trunk shows first.Good luck

Agreed but it seems like there are no trunk shows during the summer. The calendars on the Websites of some bridal salons I've looked at all seem to be out of date. I do actually fit great into sample sizes and would love to buy a sample, but I've had pretty bad experiences with all of the sample sales I've been too (and places like bridal garden which are basically big sample sales). The dresses seem to be years old and in horrible condition. I guess I was under the impression they would be one or two seasons out of date, but most of them look like styles from the 90s. I feel discouraged to try any more sample sales.
