First of all, I know I've told y'all about my friend A. She's going through chemo right now for metastatic breast cancer. She was diagnosed initially when we were about 22 and she went through treatment. It came back and she was diagnosed a second time last November. She's been on chemo since February and she is part of an experimental trial. The past couple months her white blood cell count has been low. She's been receiving treatment intermittently because of this. Last Friday (not this past one, but the one before), her counts were high enough to receive treatment. She then went into the Dr. last Weds., and they decided to do a treatment then as well. So after months of not doing consistent treatment, they blast her twice in 5 days. Her family has an annual party every summer and it took place this past Saturday. DH and I went. A looked horrible. She was tired, her skin was broken out, she was running a fever off and on, she had a pretty consistent nosebleed, she complained of her joints and bones aching. Her mom and I at one point were massaging her hands. DH and I had a few to drink, so we took a cab home. The next morning, we went back to get our car. A was not awake. Her sister told us that she woke up at 6am crying because she was in so much pain and could not sleep. Her mom went in and gave her some medicine and massaged her until she fell asleep. We didn't see A at all. After we left, I sent her a text telling her we stopped by and to call me when she was feeling better. I didn't hear from her yesterday, so last night I texted her again just letting her know I was thinking of her. I told her that she didn't need to call or text until she felt like it. She texted me back right away and said that she was in the hospital. She ran a pretty high fever and couldn't shake it, so the admitted her. It turned out her white cell count is close to zero. So...::sigh:: She said she's supposed to get out today, but I don't know. Say a little prayer for her, would you? Second of all, DH and I have hit a really rough patch. I don't want to get into all of it, but the past week has just been really bad. Third, my good friend had to put her poor sweet less-than-a-year old Lab mix down because he had a tumor next to his heart that was crushing his windpipe. They said he had a matter of days. They offered her to go to Purdue Univ., but they didn't know if he'd even make it there. They initially thought it was pneumonia. Poor darling Linus...They buried him at her DH's uncle's farm. She's crushed...Absolutely devastated. :(Fourth, my dryer is not working. I tried to start it this morning and it made a horrible noise and then I smelled a burning smell...I turned it off, unplugged it, and turned off the circuit as well. DH has a friend that can probably fix it. Let's hope we don't need a new dryer. ::sigh::: Thanks for reading.
