My FI chose "I Turn to You" by Christina Aguilera which I thought was really sweet.  It's realy long though, so I would def shorten it a bit if you use it.

My favorite song...at the moment..."G-d Only Knows" by the Beach Boys.   FI and his mom are still in discussions.

I danced with my dad and DH danced with his mom to the same song.  We wanted to keep the number of dances to a minimum. We choose, "You're Nobody 'til Somebody Loves You," by Dean Martin.  Even though it is a love song, the words are very appropriate for a parent/child dance, and at 2 minutes 35 seconds it isn't terribly long.  (Not like the 6 minute Celine Dion song they used at another wedding I attended!)

Jason and MIL danced to "A Song For Mama" by Boyz II Men... It has a special meaning for them.

Yeah, def. want to try and keep it on the shorter side, I hate when these things drag on and on! I like the idea of doing a combined one too...now just to convince the 'rents...everybody wants their spotlight :)

Oh and what we did... When Dad and I danced, half way through the DJ announced that we invite all Fathers/Daughters there to come join in the dancing... And did the same with the M/S dance. We just felt like it was more comfortable than being up there swaying back and forth for a whole song by ourselves... HTH

DH and his mom danced to "Better" by Toby Lightman.  If you're worried about the length, just tell your DJ ahead of time you don't want to dance more than x minutes or have a cue that you can give him to end the song.  We did that for the father/daughter dance because my dad was NOT looking forward to dancing.

Jade - I wanted to do that too, with the other F/D's and M/S's coming in, but FI said it would be weird cause not everyone had someone to dance with or some people are doubled up.... How did it work out? Did guests enjoy this?I think it's a good way to keep people dancing instead of just standing there through 2 whole songs.

Well it worked out for us... Dad and I danced, and then my Uncle and cousin got up... There were about 8 or - couples out there for the F/D dance... Then Jason and his mom danced, then Jason's brother cut in... My dad danced with my gma, then both uncles cut in to dance with gma... There were about 12 couples on the dance floor for the M/S dance... I guess it depends on how many F/D and M/S combos you will have there at your reception... It worked for us.
