invites???

Ok... so today I realize it's almost August... which clearly got me thinking I have to start figuring stuff out for our invites.  Then I realized I'm getting married in 3 1/2 months!  I feel some major freaking out coming on.  But I need help with my invites.  I bought print yourself invites at Michaels (50% off of course).  So my questions...I'm getting married November 14... when do they need to be sent out?  When should the rsvp date be?  When should I start printing them?  How do I prevent myself from freaking out that I'm getting married in 3 1/2 months???  I don't know if I have everything ready!!!  *begins to faint*

You have plenty of time!  Try to relax. I would start designing your invite layout now so you can continue to tweek it.  It's good to send them at about 2 months out.  You can probably send them a bit later if you want to.  You should start to print them a couple of weeks before this if you'd like to take your time and have extra time to correct any problems that may occur.  Sometimes printers can really suck.

I'm not really a good one to ask about thsi, but I just wanted to say, if you don't want to sit and waste your comptuer ink and take forever printing them out yourself, I went to Staples to ask if they would print mine and they said yes.  With basic black ink it only came to 10.25 to print 100 invites that I had already bought.  With colored ink I think they said it would be like $16.00.  SO that's a fast, cheap, and easy way to do it.  (You just need to bring in what you want on them in a word document or saved on a CD).   I would say to have the RSVP at LEAST 3 weeks before your wedding, so you will have time to call the stragglers and still have a final count the week before the wedding. HTH!

Figure out when your caterer needs a final count, then give yourself about one to two weeks before that as your RSVP date (so you can track down those who do not RSVP).I sent my invites out at 11 weeks because 90% of them are OOT and I was starting to get too many calls about hotels (apparently they did not care that I sent an STD in January with our website listed-- which included all the hotel info). I think the norm is 6-8 weeks, but 6 weeks to me seems really short. I would say give your guests about 3-4 weeks to reply after you send the invites. So send them 3-4 weeks before the RSVP deadline.

Yep! What they said! We sent them 2 months prior and the RSVP date was exactly a month before our date, which gave us plenty of time to get the stragglers and some of them were PITAs to track down. I didn't feel rushed at all, really (with the exception of one family, who ended up no-showing, which is funny bc their daughter has a wedding coming up--we should RSVP yes & no show!).

Not much new to add, except I really recommend giving yourself plenty of time bet. the RSVP date and the date you need to give the final count. I should have given myself A LOT more time than I did, though it did all work out in the end. with the exception of one family, who ended up no-showing, which is funny bc their daughter has a wedding coming up--we should RSVP yes & no show!). Oh, how I would love to do this to certain people! But I probably wouldn't have the nerve.

I won't have the guts to do it, either, Kim. Plus, I actually enjoy going to weddings, so it would punish me more, probably!

No problem!  Call the Staples ahead of time though, the one near me in Maryland wouldn't do it, but the one that woudl was the one in Pittsburgh on McKnight Road in the North Hills!
