Was it an easy decision?

I went on my first hunt for my dress today!  YAY!  so exciting! So we narrowed it down to two very similar choices.  In the end I was leaning more towards one than the other, as were my bridesmaids, but it was clear my mother preferred the other.   I was honestly hoping for one of them to just jump out and say "Pick me!"  and I have yet to make a decision. So, my question is:  Did you know that one particular dress was for you, or did you have to decide between two (or even more!) dresses that you loved...?

Hi Boston 10/10/10 wedding twin :)For me, it wasn't an easy decision.  I wasn't really sure when I was in there trying it on.  I knew it looked way better than the others and everyone else wanted me to go for it, but I wasn't totally sure.  I bought it anyways. When I got home and looked at pictures, and later when I picked it up, I realized it's absolutely perfect and I'm so happy I got it.  Some people don't have happy stories like that, so I'll tell you to think it over, try more dresses on and see if there's one you like even more.  There's no rush and dress shopping is something fun that you'll probably never get to experience again.

I tried on about 30 dresses before I found "the one". And even with it I went back 3 times to try it on for myself and some of my bridal party. I'd wait a few weeks and keep shopping. Then if you're still thinking about the dress go back and try it on.. see if you feel the same way.hth!ps- we're date twins  :)

I was torn between two completely different dresses. I ended up going with the one that was more like I had envisioned before I went shopping. I absolutely loved it, but I went back and forth a lot between the two even after I bought it!

I knew right when I tried it on.  I had been staring at it since we walked into the bridal shop, but ignored it because it wasn't on my "list".  When I kept going back to it, I KNEW it was the one.  I didn't even have the dress all the way on when my sister looked at me and said, I think this is it...and all I could say was, YES! This is my dress!

i tried on over 100 dresses - no joke - and wasn't 100% convinced i loved any of them. i was looking for a simple, elegant dress that fit my personality and also fit my small, outdoor garden wedding. i found that i kept trying on the same style dress - strapless, sweetheart, rushing (don't know how to spell that..) at every store, so it must be the type i should get. i ended up ordering mikaella 1239 and i hope i love it when it comes in november or december in my size! i would search a few more places, see if you find anything you like, then go back to the first dress you loved. you may have a better idea of what you want by then.

I tried on about 6 or 7 dresses. I found myself trying to convince myself that I liked different ones for different reasons. When I tried on the dress I ended up buying, it was everything I didn't know I wanted and I knew. The dress "fit me", I wasn't trying to "fit it". I hope that makes sense. :) I agree with PP, keep looking, or wait a little while and go back and look at the dresses again. Maybe one will keep sticking out in your mind. Good luck!

I was between two similar dresses as well.  I took my mom and dad with me the first time, and they liked both dresses, but my mom liked one more and my dad the other more.I went back and took 2 close friends, and they liked both...  But that time one "felt" more like me.  Maybe give it anoher try.Good luck!

I ended up with the 3rd dress I tried on out of 10 or 12 dresses.  I liked some of the others, but nothing compared to the one I ended up getting.

For both weddings, I actually bought the first wedding dress I tried on.  Over thirty years later, I look back at the first one and think it was the right choice for me.  This time, I had some minor second thoughts when I walked around in the dress at home, because it didn't seem to do enough to minimize my abdomen.  However, I added a crinoline, and now it is perfect!

I tried on 10 or so dresses.  When I tried my dress on though, I definitely knew it was the one.  I went back to the store a couple of times to try it on before I bought and every time I was so happy when I put it on. I had another dress that I was thinking of getting, but I just couldn't get the first one out of my mind...

Yes! It was the first one I tired on and I ended up buying it. I tried on many many dresses too at at least 5 or 6 salons but nothing struck me quite like that first dress. My real problem is I loved every gown I tried on. I really think I frustrated more than on sales girl with all my "ooh I love this one tooooo!"

I found a dress I liked online, but it had been discontinued. After trying on about 100 dresses (like h+j, I only wish I was kidding) the dress I found online was still stuck in my head. I tried on dozens from the same designer, but nothing was "it." So, we did some work and tracked down one dress in my size, still in the manufacturer's packaging in California and had it shipped out. I loved it in person - so I kept it. I never really got that feeling that other brides say they get - I was just looking for something particular that looked nice on me. I like the advice the PP's have given you - go out and try on more dresses, I think more and more you'll find one will stick in your mind - then go back and try it on and see how you feel - GL!
