OOT bags - would you rather:

If you got an OOT package in a hotel for a wedding, would you rather have it in a paper bag with handles, a cardboard gable box, or a reusable bag (like a plain canvas bag or a grocery store tote bag)?In other words, would you want a container that you could throw away/recycle after you've used the contents, or would you enjoy a reusable bag to take home with you?

I like the idea of a reusable bag, but not everyone uses them.

I think the reuseable bag idea is cute!

The reusable bag might be nice as long as your names weren't on it. The nosy b*tches at my job would probably rifle thru my lunch if I brought in a lunch bag with strange names on it.

Glad to hear you'd all like a reusable bag! I was leaning toward that but didn't know if people would want to take it home (although you can roll it up and shove it in a bag, so it's not like it'd take up any room). Don't worry, Vanessa, no names or monograms. It'd probably be a plain, neutral-colored tote, not even in our wedding colors or anything. I also thought about getting the bags from a grocery store but IDK if people would think it's weird or tacky to have the store name on it. Although A&P does the ones with animals on it and I think the proceeds go to a nature charity. Any thoughts on that?

That I would be less inclined to use.  Something nice and neutral (green, beige, dark blue, just no pink or purple) would be great.

that is a great idea that goes with your "green" theme. I saw a bunch of cute ones at forever 21 and the proceeds go to planting trees or something like that, can't remember what exactly, but I bought the ones that suppost the cause.

I'd go for the reusable bag...I hate when I get those paper gift bags and they just have water and some candy in it and they’re like 75% empty. I always think what a waste of a bag and end up throwing it away and putting the things I want to keep in my purse/bagAt least the reusable bag it's not a waste and people would hopefully keep it.

mbcdefg: I bought reusable tote/grocery store bags from papermart.com. Lots of colors, I got chocolate to match my colors. 25 bags for $20.99. they just came in and are very nice. HTH.

Sin, was this it? http://www.forever21.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=FOREVER21&category%5Fname=acc%5Fhandbags&product%5Fid=1061576225&Page=allSo would you guys rather have that stylish one? (I think it's awesome, just not sure if men would like it.)Or something very plain, like this? http://www.nashvillewraps.com/ShowSku.ww?Class=007&Type=976Or one of these? (They sell these at A&P for 99 cents each and part of the proceeds go to environmental foundations)  http://www.aptea.com/haub_foundation.aspI know I can never please everyone, but I just wanted to see what the majority would want.

I love that idea!  It won't cost much b/c you'll buy exactly what you need (based on the hotels report of booked rooms).

Personally I would stay away from any kind of prints/logos. But I also think the canvas one is too boring. I would try to find one in a solid color that matched your color scheme. That way it still looks festive but it's less likely to clash with someone's personal style.

    I agree...a reusable bag too :-)

Honestly - not a fan at all of the A&P one and would probably leave it behind. The canvas one is good but needs some color or something, a bit too plain/neutral and looks sad.

Ditto Stephanie. I actually really like the Forever 21 bag. It's not boring but isn't just for one specific kind of style either.

Those are nice too, thanks :) Anyway, just good to know that a reusable bag would probably go over well. I have a ton of time to find something - thank you all very much! lol, and to think I wasn't originally going to do OOT bags. But when we went to check out a hotel to block rooms, I saw about 6 weddings' worth of OOT bags waiting to be given out. And I said to FI, "Well, now we HAVE to do them, so our guests don't see other weddings' guests getting bags and they get nothing!" :P

if you did the tree ones, you could make little tags (on recycled paper of course) telling them that a tree was planted for them.

We did reusable bags, and everybody likes them.  But that was before every grocery store etc. sold them, so everyone didn't have 15 of them already then. Gable boxes are a nicer presentation than a paper bag, but harder to deal with when packing up your luggage.

i would want it in something i can easily carry with handles.  I am not big on reusable anything because I am very picky on things I keep and throw.  It might be thrown out anyways.
