When to buy BM dresses?

I'm getting married next May, and I want my BMs to pick out their dresses now. They don't have to buy them (as they are from a big name company), but just have them selected so I can plan other things (i.e. flowers, jewelry) with the dresses in mind and so that I don't have to worry about not finding the dress later. I am being too demanding by asking for the dresses to be picked now?

Re: When to buy BM dresses?

  • It's a little soon, and styles change and become discontinued.  So if you're basing your whole "look" on a particular dress, you may be screwed if they stop making that style by the time you buy the dresses.  You could just as easily choose a color of dress.  This way you can plan for flowers, and pick the exact dress in a few months.  Jewelry is not hard to figure out once you have a dress.  You won't need 6 months of lead time to do this.

Husbands should be like Kleenex: Soft, strong, and disposable.
  • Hello,  it is a little bit early to start looking, but it wouldn't hurt to order them at least 5 months in advance.  My wedding is in September.  We ordered our dresses in March.  Something must of went wrong at the factory with sizing, because none of the dresses fit (no one gained weight).  We had to reorder all of them and they finally came in.  The chances of that happening a pretty slim, but it never hurts to stay ahead!
