Impossible to match e-ring *sigh* please help!

My engagement ring is gorgeous. It's simple, with a twist, just like me. It also is the most frustrating thing in my life right now, besides my Momzilla.

Ladies, I really need some help/opinions/experienced condolences.

I live in Okinawa, Japan, and there aren't many places to find jewelry other than our base exchange or online.  When my fiance took leave last fall, he bought me this ring, but it wasn't part of a set. Normally it would be ok, but this is what my ring looks like:

This was the only picture I could find of it... But at least you can see what I mean.  I have tried it with a half-eternity band, a plain band, a curved band, etc. and nothing seems to look "right" with it.
I just don't know what to try next. Should I just give up and try to get a custom ring gaurd to go with it?

Any help is greatly appreciated, ladies!

  • Would something like this go with it do you think?  It's not the right color but at least you can see the design:

  • I think your best bet is to find a jeweler who can custom make something for you so that it can fit with it. You can get just a band or you can get one of those insert type bands where you slide your e-ring in between to bands and it fits together...creating a band on each side of your e-ring.

I think it's going to be REALLY hard to find something that matches your e-ring right off the shelf.

  • Another option, if you're interested in it, would be to wear the e-ring on one hand and your wedding band on the other. That way, you can get the band you want and it won't have to be perfectly matched.

Otherwise, ditto Chelsea, custom might be your best bet.

  • Or, what you could do is have your e-ring become your wedding ring- use it at the ceremony as if it were a new ring, and it can become your wedding band. There was someone else on TK that was doing that...
  • What about something like this with just pave?
  • I think you're going to have to go custom or no wedding band.  I know a few girls who have chosen the latter option.  Your ring is very pretty.  I don't like when there are gaps between the e ring and the wedding band, so I'd go custom.
  • Probably not what you want to hear but I had a similiar situation.  My e-ring is very unique and I chose not to get a wedding band.  I just wear that ring for both.  I could have gotten a custom ring made to fit it for an arm and leg.  Instead, we are buying a plain band that I will wear when we are camping and having work days at the house so my e/wedding ring doesn't get damaged or lost.

It shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg to get a custom band....although I guess that all depends on what you consider "an arm and leg".  My band was custom made, has pave diamonds around the entire band, and cost $1200.  I don't think that's a bad price.  You just need to go to a local jeweler that will give you a good price and not rip you off like a chain store may.
