Timeline Help! Mandalay Bay to Las Vegas Sign to Lawry's the Prime Rib

Hi Everyone!

First of all, I would like to thank all of the lovely brides out there who have made my decisions SO much easier!  I'm planning a Las Vegas wedding from Canada without ever having visited Vegas, so your reviews have been terrific!

I've booked my ceremony for 1 PM at the Mandalay Bay, photos to follow with Todd around the grounds (SO excited!) from about 2:30-4:30 PM (I've never seen the grounds of Mandalay Bay in person, but I'm hoping there are some nice photo ops), and then dinner is at around 5:30 at Lawry's the Prime Rib.

My question is:
I'm renting a party bus to transport approximately 30 people from Mandalay Bay to Lawry's the Prime Rib (Google maps says it's approximately 10 minutes away).  Is there enough time to stop at the Las Vegas sign to get a quick photo with the entire group before heading to the restaurant?  I thought there would be, as Mandalay bay is about 5 minutes away from the sign, but the people at Eart Limos said it would take AT LEAST 1.5 hours, but more likely 2 hours.  Is this true?  Is it because there is usually a long lineup at the sign?

I've searched and searched, but I could not find any information.  Any help that you Knotties could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance :)

  • I haven't been to the LV sign but I have heard that there can be a line to take pictures... Perhaps they are accounting for that.
  • Thanks, Emilia!  I thought that was why they quoted 1.5 hours... but that seems like an awfully long time to wait, considering that it will only take about 15-20 minutes driving time to go from Mandalay Bay to the Vegas Sign and then on to Lawry's.

Has anyone actually experienced a line up at the sign that lasts for an hour?  I should mention that I'm getting married on a Saturday in November... We'll be reaching the sign at about 5 PM...
  • The sign is a bit south of MB, it won't take longer than ten minutes to get there though once you get the bus loaded up.  I would anticipate no more than 20 minutes to get from the sign to Lawry's.  At the sign itself, in the earlier part of the evening in November, you can probably get in and out in less than ten to fifteen minutes.  It gets busier as the day goes on and people get drunker.  So with all that said, I think if you are prepared to leave MB an hour before your reservation at Lawry's you'll be fine.

  • We went to the LV sign on a Sunday morning and the wait was about 15 minutes.. It might be worse on a weekend night though..
  • I think there's a live webcam at the las vegas sign on earthcam.com??
do a search and look at the lines..
