Advice on cost of flowers

I'm doing 10 tables with centerpieces on them, bouquet for me (bride)  bouquets for 4 bridesmaids, corsage for g-ma and both moms, and about 7 boutineers for the guys/dads.  There quote to me was about $800 bucks plus delivery for the whole thing.  Am I just cheap- or does that sound high to anyone?I'm mostly using hydrangeas and garden roses and some greenery  mixed in.  The centerpieces are not huge at all- its an outdoor wedding. My bouquet alone was $116.  Any advice on what you all paid for flowers???thanks!

I think the price sounds about right.  I actually would have expected it to be  a bit more.  My friend and I do flower arrangements (on an amatuer basis) for friends weddings and while the flowers themselves are not terribly expensive ($1 a stem for a rose and $5-7 for hydrangeas) I am always amazed at how much labor goes into preparing the flowers and arranging them.  My guess is that if you did it yourself you could probably do it for have of the florist charge but, personally, I don't think it is worth the headache on your wedding day.

Definitely shop around. I did not have a very large flower budget.  I am getting 20 (VERY simple centerpieces), my bouquet, 8 BM bouquets, 9 bouts. for $550.  The girl I'm using works our of a greenhouse but also has her own side business, Flowers by Tia.  I just went to the wedding of a co-worker who used her and the flowers were gorgeous and hand delivered and set up by Tia. She also provides very nice vases for the bouquets @ the reception. Tia's # if you want to check her out is 513-245-0086.I also have the price break down for everything if you want it.

i have just started looking into flowers, but the one lady I talked to explained to me that garden roses are 3 times more costly than standard roses (I wanted the David Austen garden roses that look like peonies).  I think your quote seems super fair in pricing...  who was it??

that sounds decent to me. I got the pricing for my bouquet, 7 BM's bouquets, 8 bouts, 2 small posies for MOB and MOG, plus flowers for grandmas/grandpas and that's around $900. That price doesn't include my centerpieces. I do remember that my bouquet is $100.. so your price doesn't sound bad, and you could probably do your flowers yourself, but I'd rather pay the extra to avoid that headache I did go a little flower crazy, but my florist (Petals & Glass) promised to keep me under my $2000 flower budget.

A good way for you to cut your cost will be to eliminate floral centerpieces.  I know that may seem obvious-- but if you're not gung-ho about having floral centerpieces, you can probably save yourself hundreds of dollars. :) GL!

Here's my breakdown... I have a lot of flowers. This and photography was our big splurge. Our florist is Oberer's. They went way above and beyond when we were in their shop. Even made a full bridal bouquet for me to see. (1) Bride bouquet ($200 by itself for 24-30 roses, 12 mini callas) (5) BM bouquet (8) GM boutineers (1) Groom boutineer (3) Mother's coursages (3) Father's boutineers (1) Officiant boutineer (17) Centerpieces (and I own the vases afterward) (2) Ceremony Alter Arrangements (1) Cake topper & scatters Flowers are bluebird roses, ivory and lavendar hydrangea, eggplant calla lilies. Grand total including delivery and set up of all centerpieces, cake decs, and tax was $1300. Really it all depends on they type of flowers you pick, and the season of your wedding. What's available and in season, etc. I shopped around. Their service was amazing, and their price was the cheapest of the places I went to. Hope that helps!
