Royal Cancun VS. Secrets Maroma?

FI and I are trying to decide between the Royal Cancun and the Secrets Maroma Beach in Riviera Maya. Has anyone been to either of these resorts or have any feedback about them!? TIA!

Re: Royal Cancun VS. Secrets Maroma?

  • Fi and I stayed at the Royal Cancun in March '08 and absolutely LOVED it.  The rooms were the best I've ever stayed in- huge, comfortable beds, big balcony with a hammock, ipod dock with a loaded ipod, nightly turn-down with aromatherapy service, two person showers...it was the best.  We stayed in a Royal Service Oceanfront and were able to choose our own room 48 hours before check-in.  We also did Chef's Plate, which was amazing.  The food was well above my expectations.  Service was great.  I don't have anything bad to say about them.  We still talk about going back there.

  • Ok, sorry to come back and post again.  I just checked out Secrets Maroma's website just for comparison and thought I might be able to give you some more helpful info.  It definitely looks like Secrets Maroma is a larger resort overall, more sprawling grounds compared to Royal, which is definitely right between two other resorts in the Hotel Zone.  The beach also looks bigger at Secrets than at the Royal.  These might be important to you. :)

  • Are they both Secrets resorts?   if they are we are looking at the same places, we are also looking at the Excellence so I would appreciate any insight TOOO.
  • We honeymooned at Secrets Maroma from May 31 - June 7th and LOVED it!  Review in my married bio.
  • I have never been to the Royal Cancun but I love Secrets Maroma Beach. I was just there last month and I loved it! The beach is amazing there; it was voted one of the best in the world. The service is great - unlike any other vacation I've taken. The pool and beachside service is so attentive - you never have to leave your lounge chair to get a drink or even a meal. The Spa by Pevonia is top notch, very relaxing. Also, there are lots of activities including sailing, windsurfing, water aerobics, kayaks and snorkeling. Lastly the food is great (seven restaurants and 24-hour room service). I hope you enjoy your vacation!
