It's a wedding. It's traditional. You aren't that weird.That made me chuckle out loud at my desk.I also don't get the obsession with the dancing wedding party. It was goofy and not appropriate for a church in my opinion.I don't get brides who say they don't like to be the center of attention so want a tiny ceremony, but still plan to have a huge reception. You're still going to be the center of attention at the reception too ya know.I don't get people who are addicted to reality tv shows.

Kati - My e-ring is a pink sapphire. 2 reasons: I like pink, and with sapphires you get more rock for less $$$. Win-win!I know I'm going to get flamed for this but... I don't get DIY. And I don't mean I think everybody should pay for things rather than doing it themselves. I actually don't get why one would need or want most of that stuff that is DIY. Why do you need crazy shaped escort cards and a wacky new take on a guest book and an intricately wrapped favor for each person and invitations that take you and 3 of your closest friends 20 hours to construct? They don't make your party better, no one really notices, and it's just your precious time and money going down the drain.In the same vein, I don't get monograms on everything. Cocktail napkins, aisle runners, dance floor, blah blah blah... seriously? No one cares except you and again, I'd so much rather put that money toward kickass food, an open bar, or something else that my guests will really enjoy. Yeah... can you tell I don't have a crafty bone in my body?

For less fortunate people, rubies, emeralds and sapphires were more widely used until the Middle Ages, when diamonds could be imported in from colonies in Africa. JS, sorry, but I especially don't get the Twilight hate from people who haven't read it. That's just ignorant IMO.

lucyanddrew - I love pink too. I would just worry that I wouldn't want to wear it with clashing colors (yes, I am way too anal). I hear you about the DIY stuff too although my anal tendencies may coerce me into DIYing invites since I can't find any that I love that are customizable enough. But there's no way in hell I'll be making a cardbox or favors, I have no ability when it comes to crafts.

I don't get why people ask an etiquette question, get 30 answers, and then take it personally when etiquette doesn't conform the way they want it to, and claim that it's just "our opinion." Then they get the one answer from someone who has broken the same etiquette rule and says it's fine, and they do what they want anyway. And why they take it like a personal attack when they are told the standard rules of etiquette governing their situation. It's not like we made them up.
