Disneymooners- or other Disney people, how much cash to bring?

How much cash do you recommend bringing on HM to Disney? Most everything will be paid for before we go, i.e., hotel, park passes, most meals.  So I am not really sure how much we should bring.  FI wants to bring $500-1000.  I think that $500 seems ok but think much more than that is too much.  Am I wrong?

  • We had the meal plan. Tips and souvenirs for our 10 day honeymoon was about $500. We spent another $450 on extra tours (we had $150 in tours already paid). It honestly depends on what you plan on doing and buying. And if you are on the meal plan or not. Do you plan on buying alcohol which is expensive? What kind of things do you want to buy? For example, we bought an expensive custom picture in a frame. Also you are bringing cash? If you are staying on Disney property, you can hook your credit card to your room key and then you don't have to carry anything but your room key to the parks. you just charge everything to the room. You guys seem like you need to compromise on a budget.

  • We do have the meal plan and dont really drink so we dont need to worry about alcohol.  I assume we will do some extras, like I would love to do the dolphin swim at Epcot, so I know we need money for stuff like that.. I assume we will bring back t-shirts, mugs or something along those lines for family.  I just think $1000 is too much but maybe its not.
  • Yeah $1000 for souvenirs and tips is a lot. But it won't hurt you to bring too much. Its probably better to be safe than sorry. You can only buy so many mugs and t-shirts :) We didn't buy any. We bought a custom picture/frame, purse, ornaments (including a super cute honeymoon ornament), couple stuffed animals, dog ID tags, and car decals. And all of that was less than $300. Tips were probably $100 or $125.

  • We stayed for a week, and had the dining plan.  We brought $800 I think, but maybe used $600.  I can't remember for sure. Depends how much you plan on bringing back and what you plan to do down there.  You could definately do it with $500.
  • Ok. Thank you ladies!
