So, the crappy news we got is that FIL *finally* got some answers about his esophageal cancer (it's been almost a month, which infuriates me). Apparently, the cancer has spread to the rest of his throat, his lymph nodes, and his lung. The MD is making arrangements for him to start chemo & radiation asap. We have no idea what the success rate is (I didn't ask). I wanted to ask tons of questions, but kept it to two. I didn't want to upset him more than he already was. He's a recovering alcoholic, and has heart problems.DH was shocked and speechless. I'm kinda in a state of frustration because I want to know more, but I just feel like it's not my place.So any spare vibes you have would be greatly appreciated! :-\

    Many many many vibes for your FIL, DH and the entire family.  A good friend of our family is fighting esophageal cancer right now...I think he is being tested next month to see if it has spread any more after radiation/chemo.  :/And I'll be thinking of you too - that's a hard position to be in.  :(  Hugs!

    Hugs, thoughts, prayers, vibes - everything is sent your way and DH and DH's family's way.  That's really tough to deal with.  My Grandfather (the nice one- not my boss Grandfather) had lung cancer two years ago but he's still kicking.   I can definitely understand your frustration.

    October 2012: DH Dx: Testicular Cancer -- Left Orchiectomy
    December 2012: F/U CT Scan -- All clean!
    January 2013: Starting the adoption process!

    Many vibes for your FI's family.  FI's dad fought the battle of esophageal cancer for almost 2 years.  I know how you must be feeling.

    We've had some cancer in our family too. My grandfather also had lung cancer, Jenn. They didn't catch it early enough, though...he was in the hospital for 3 months before he passed. It was the kind that spreads really quickly. It's just such an awful disease (not that any diseases are good, but this one just rips you a new one). Thanks for the vibes ladies. I'm googling and finding that it looks like he may be in Stage 3 or 4 already, based on the little info we have at this point. Obviously, that's not good. :-(Neither DH nor I have ever had a stellar relationship with FIL, but it's still his dad & my FIL. I think DH is kicking himself now for some things that have happened in the past.
