Dress VENT...blah!!!

OK, so I ordered my dress (and my one & only bridesmaid's) on June 15. I'm getting married on Sept 9. I just called the dress shop to find out where the heck the dresses are and the lady told me that they won't ship until AUGUST 21!!!!!!!!!!! WTF?!?!? I'm kinda freaking out just a tad since that only gives me like 2 weeks to get fitted/altered (which I am NOT doing at the dress shop)!!! No real question here...just needed to get that out. Thanks all and have a great night!

Re: Dress VENT...blah!!!

  • You ordered your dress less than three months before your wedding?
  • Yeah actually that's really fast for dresses to come in.  When you ordered the dress, when did they tell you it would come in?

  • Did you rush order the dress? I ordered mine 5 months before my wedding and it came in 3 weeks beforehand, with no rush. Ditto tlv. How long did they say it would take to get there? Do you know where it is shipping from? If it's local, it shouldn't take too long, but if it's from overseas then I don't know.

  • You probably should have asked when it would be shipped before you ordered. Can you pay extra now to have it rushed? Off topic: ggmae I LOVE your siggy pic!!
  • That's actually pretty quick for a dress - I ordered mine 5/28 for my 9/26 wedding and it's going to be in next week - what kind of time frame did the shop give you?

  • It's frustrating but keep in mind that's awesome service.See if it's possible to expedite the shipping and contact a tailor that can do alterations quickly.  A local one should be able to do multiple fittings in a few days if you call now and explain the rush.
  • Yes, I waited to order. Yes, I rush ordered (the dress shop told me I had to in order to get it in time.) They told me it would be in in early August, so since that's now, I figured I would call and find out what the status is. Yes, I posted and disappeared. It's called leaving work, going home, having dinner and spending some time with my FI who has been working some crazy a$$ long hours this week. But, dress crisis averted...I talked to my mom and she calmed me down. I have a lady all lined up to do alterations, so I'll just need to talk to her to see what she thinks she can do. Of course, I have no idea what I'll need to have done, but I'll worry about that when the time comes. Thanks all for your concern.
  • I ordered my dress 6 months ago- getting married Sep 12- and my dress is still MIA. I feel your pain, but must add that you did order rather late.
  • gg- the shop where I ordered my dress is saying it will be arriving in the next two weeks- meaning I'll have about 3 weeks to spare (presuming she is not just making details up, which I'm not sure about at this stage as everything she says is rather vague). Did you find it stressful with only having the 3 weeks between dress arrival and the wedding? Did you purchase your accessories beforehand?
  • Two weeks is plenty of time to get the dress altered. I wouldn't be mad at the dress shop, ordering it so soon before the wedding and having it come in just over 2 months is AWESOME.Maybe you should have it altered at the dress shop, they probably have the experience to do it in a short time frame. If you take it somewhere else you don't know and they mess it up, you're screwed.
