American Prestige Bridal Package Scam?

I have been receiving messages from some company called American Prestige saying I had one a bridal package. When I finally answered their next phone call she had said I won a trip; the only catch is I have to go to a 90 min presentation on cookware. What I have researched has told me this is a scam. I asked them how they got a hold of my number and they said I had registered at some bridal shower or other website. I don't recall this. Has anyone else received something like this? I think it's ridiculous and big brotherish that they can get your phone number. Planning a wedding can be difficult enough without being ripped off and mislead about receiving a free trip to some exotic place.

I have gotten this call as well, and yes it is a scam. I didn't buy my dress at a store though. I did got to two bridal shows so I am sure they gave my info to someone...

I got the same call also. The only way i think they got my number was from a bridal show i went to.

I do not know if this is specific company is a scam, but there are some out there that give "free" trips in this manner. I know you have to attend a meeting pre-trip and then one at the vacation spot (mostly resorts I think?) and I believe you have a small promotional duty. Obviously I don't know that much about it or if it is worth it, but I know some are legit.

I got a call from the same company several months ago. I hadn't been to any bridal shows, so I figure it must have been that I had gone dress hunting at David's. I will not be purchasing anything from David's Bridal for this reason.

Thats why I ask anymore if they sell your name to any other business.If they do then I say see you. I know that they can lie and tell you no they don't. Thats why I don't sign up for those free contests and such at the malls and its very iffy on the bridal shows to.

I got this call yesterday. I figured it was too good to be true, but I'm just desperate enough at this point that I was considering risking it and going to the presentation. Luckily, my fiance is working all weekend so we couldn't both go to the presentation like they required. That gave me time to get down off that cloud and do some research to find out this was a scam. I'm pretty sure they got my info from where I bought my dress too. Not cool!

I got a call like that a couple days ago from the same company. I figured it was a scam, and my dad was there when I talked to the lady. He said that it's possible that it is not a scam. He has heard of things like this where a company tries to get you to come to a presentation, and if you sign up for the trip you have to pay to get yourself there. And the whole time you are there, you are required to go to the timeshare meetings every day. They try to get you to buy a timeshare near the location you go to. Not sure if it's a scam, but my gut tells me that it might be. I didn't want to go through all of the trouble. I'm too busy hah!

Ladies, this is a scam. What they don't tell you is the following:1. You have to pay for all of the taxes and fees associated with your "free trip". Last time I checked, free means no charge.2. That 90 minute presentation is a high-pressured sales pitch. They will make it very easy for you to buy whatever line they are selling. They expect you to say no and pull out every trick in the book to get a yes. Think of it like an intervention. They will only accept a yes from you, everything else is just noise. And they do not stop until you say yes.3. Going to bridal shows and certain chain dress stores are a guarantee call. They buy your information and it is legal. 4. The "5 star resort hotel" is usually a flea bag hotel in a crappy area of town. They restrict when you can go. You have to pick from certain dates. On the phone, they tell you that you can go anytime. 5. You have to pay for all your food, transportation, and activities that you want to do.6. Those phone calls are cold calls coming from a call center. The call center have about 25 people calling other brides and grooms that have "won" a dream trip. If you can hear other people talking, then hang up the phone.Bottom line, if you have won something legitimately, you do not have to pay anything or sit through presentations to claim your prize. Ed McMahon never required a 90 minute presentation to give you the check. He never required that you spend anything except for the cost of a stamp.

I also got the phone call, the lady at the presentation told me they had gotten my information from the wedding fair we had gone to. And yes I agree with all of you this so call free trip is not free. They make you pay for transportation and a bunch of hidden fees. Oh and they also ask that you provide them with your credit card number so ladies do not give that information our to them.

I also received a phone call about this not long after I went to a bridal show. I also thought it was too good to be true and did some research, and boy am I glad I did. On the first call I received- they had to leave a message- they didn't even mention a presentation, only that I'd won a free trip. It wasn't until they did a follow-up call (after I didn't call them back) that they brought up the presentation. No thank you.

I got this call (they got my info from a bridal show though). I actually went to the presentation thing (and got a free dinner out of it

). It definitely was a sales pitch, but it's not really a scam per se. You do get free lodging, but do have to pay tax and fees, like PP said. I didn't end up using it because the resorts had pretty bad reviews on tripadvisor, and to add on days it would have been almost as expensive as the resort we ended up using, but I do know one couple that actually used the free trip, and they had a great time. You definitely have to jump through some hoops, but it is a few nights free in a resort. Also, you didn't really "win" it since they offer this to everyone.

I got the same phone call and fi and I went thinking it was some type of wedding show. It turned out they just want you to buy their dinnerwear, cutlery, or cookwear. I really liked their products, but there's no way we can afford them, $895 for a 10 piece knife set!!! And the only way I can think of them getting my number is from Davids, but I didn't ask....

My FI and I got one of these and he went to the 90 min pres and we got two trips. A 4 night 5 day cruise and 2 round trip airline tickets! not all of them are scams.

I personally have never gotten any calls from going to David's Bridal, but I have been to a few bridal shows where I've signed up to win something. FI and I sat through a presentation like that, and when we wanted to receive our "free" prize (champagne flutes and a 3 day night), we never heard back from them because we didn't buy anything.

Here's my story... I received a call saying me and my fiancé had won a bridal package. I was in shock! It was the most exciting thing ever. The woman I spoke with said all we had to do was to sit through a 90 minute cookware presentation. And you DO NOT have to purchase any items to get your free gift. But as soon as I started reading things online about this... I immediately thought it was a scam. But they proved me wrong. We sat through the cookware demonstration. They didn't pressure anyone to buy any cookware. After the presentation was over you got to pick your gift. Either a free trip or two wedding bands. However, if you and your fiancé decided this cookware was something you would like to invest in, not only would you get a great deal on the cookware but you would also receive both free gifts.
