WWYD - scary walk in guy...

Remember how some guy walked into my apt the other night?... It was a complete accident but since that night I've been wondering what he was doing there to begin with. I saw him enter the apt across from ours. I knew that those neighbors had moved out at the end of the month, but thought he may have just moved in that day. Well days later there is still a vacant sign on that mailbox so I started to wonder what was up. My H called rental office and just asked if someone had moved in and the woman was a little shocked and said "No one should have a key to that place, it's vacant. No one should be there. We'll check it out." So H saw a maintance man walk in and check it out and he called yesterday to ask what was going on. All they would tell him is to 'call the police if it happens again'. (Well no sht lady). Last night there were people walking in and out of it later at night like 11:30 or so. I'm getting increasily uncomfortable with this. Would you call or stop by the rental office and demand more answers or let it go?

I'd call again! When we first moved to our apartment in Oakland a few years ago, we had a guy try to get in through the window. He said "he thought the apartment was empty". We called the police and then never had a problem again. It seemed that people will go around during move-in/move-out times to check for things left behind at apartments or even things moved in before people live there.

Hmm, could they be painting or fixing the plumbing or something...an outside contractor of some sort? That would concern me too.

I saw the painting people there a couple days after the other tenents moved out, and it's not them. Also the other tenents moved to CA, so they're not coming back for any reason.

Oh got it. I called somone is calling me back. It just seems so odd to me and since I'm home alone at night, I wanted to feel better about this, but didn't know if I was making a big deal over nothing.

This would creep me out, even if it is harmless. Make sure you bolt the door and everything, even when it is you and DH.

No I would be weirded out too. Did they have any pets? Thinking maybe the guy might have been a friend who petsat for them so had an extra key and maybe is using that key to squat in the apt or something? No matter what it is FREAKY and I'd be keeping various items-that-could-be-weapons around my apartment.  Good luck, be safe!
