How much to pay a violinist?

We are a wonderful violinist to play at our wedding.  She is only a senior in high school, but very talented.  She will be the main musician, but will bring along a friend to accompany her in some songs.  She did not ask for a certain amount.  How much would you pay the "main" violinist and how much would you pat the "Backup"  I have no idea. Thanks!

Re: How much to pay a violinist?

  • I would probably pay $50 to $75 each.I could be off, but they aren't professionals, so I wouldn't pay too much.

  • How long is she playing - just the ceremony?  Ceremony & cocktail hour?  Ceremony, cocktail hour, AND reception?  I got a quote for a professional violinist for $375 for 2 hours.  I'd probably pay the violinist $100 and her backup $50, plus feed them and make sure they have soda/water to drink.
  • violinist $100, back up asst. $50
  • I intended that to mean just for the ceremony.reception music would be more
  • I agree.  Violinist $100 and backup $50.
  • Thanks for the advice!  Those are about the same prices I was thinking.  They will only be playing during the ceremony.  They will start about 30min before the ceremony starting, during the ceremony,  and play about 20min after the ceremony is over.
