Name Change question

Hi Ladies! It's been a while since I posted (and I'll have vendor reviews and a married bio soon, I promise) on this board. I was just wondering if those of you that changed your name got your new SS card the same day or if it gets mailed? I'm hoping to do that and get my new DL today. Thanks

    SS card gets mailed about a week later.

    The new SS gets mailed, but they update their system right away.  You can still go get your DL on the same day though- you don't need the new SS card to get the DL.

    When I went to SS office to put a request in for a new card with name change, I told them I was going to get a new license. I asked if I needed anything for documentation showing my old/new name and ss# . They gave me a letter to give to DMV.  It was helpful b/c there was something wrong in the system at the DMV where my name was coming up with my SS#.  Sounds like the system error happens infrequently, though.
