Register

Hey Ladies, My FI and I are going to register tomorrow and we are trying to come up with a list of what we need. History: We have never lived on our own however we have a TON of stuff (pots, pans, place settings, laundry room stuff, a ton of entertaining stuff and MOST IMPORTANT a fully stocked bar of wine glasses, beer glasses etc) we also have some smaller appliances. I'm sure a lot of people are in the same spot we are, but we are having a hard time thinking of what to register for... Any help with making a list?? If it makes a difference...We are planning on buying a house just before the wedding so we have no clue what our decor will be /furniture until right before the wedding. Thanks in advance for you help...!

• We are in a similar situation with having pots, pans, etc. so we are going to upgrade some of our old stuff. Like a better coffee pot and food processor. Also registered for some of those specialty kitchen gadgets that you'd never really buy for yourself, but would love to have. And a flat screen tv. Just kidding (but I'd secretly love to).
• You'll be surprised what you can come up with IMO.We probably came up with 60 items and we've been living together for 4 years now.  http://www3.shopping.com/xPO-Back-to-Basics-PC17589  (my friend has this and it rocks, there's barely any unpopped kernels... no one got it for us and we keep forgetting to go get it though.. haha)-We upgraded our toaster to a 4slice-We got a good coffee machine (grind and brew)-Gordon Ramsey serving dishes, rammekins (sp?) and casserole dish-A bedroom set (sheets, comforter, pillow cases)-Crock pot-Roasting pan for turkeys-Wine decanter (you can never have too many of those IMO)

• big ditto on the KitchenAid mixer.  I love mine!
• blender toaster stand mixer coffee maker slow cooker kettle mixing bowls silverware casserole dishes serving dishes towels bedding - sheets, duvet covers duvet pillow bathroom accessories shower curtain kitchen gadgets like garlic press, grater, salad spinner teapot wine carafe wine cooler champagne bucket bakeware bbq tools iron ironing board steamer kitchen linens - tablecloths, napkins, placemats, oven mitts, dishcloths, tea towels kitchen knives serving utensils pepper mill Really, the list of things you will need over the years is ridiculous. H and I have been living together for 7 years and I STILL don't have everything I want/need.
• I agree with the specialty kitchen gadgets... We didn't register, but I always stare at the weird things they have in kitchenware DEBATING to buy or not.
• Ice cream maker.  It's the shiit.  If you don't have linens for a king size bed, put them.  You'll end up getting a bigger bed when you buy the house.  Lots of neutral towels.  You'll use them eventually.
• Upgrade what you have.  Better place settings, better sheets, better pots/pans, better bakeware.  Appliances like a toaster oven, stand mixer, coffeemaker, dehydrator.  Decorative stuff like vases, pictures, frames.
• Most places you go to register have a REALLY extensive list of stuff & ideas, some of which you might not normally go for, but since you don't necessarily need the basics those things could go on your list.
• For some more unconventional ideas: board games, sewing machine, wii (almost all my friends registered for this), new DVD player, movies, books, candles, picture frames, photo albums
• WOW Thanks! Sooo many ideas that we didn't think about :) Since everything we have for the house is brand-still in the box- new I never would have thought of upgrading anything. Thanks for the great ideas - a new DVD player will be on our register!
