Edgewood Golf Course

Hello. I'm Katie and I'm new to the Tahoe Board.  I just got engaged a few weeks ago, but my FI and I have been talking about having a winter wedding in Tahoe for years.  A few summers ago we looked at Edgewood Golf Course and both fell in love with the venue.  Does anybody have any experience working with them or been to a wedding there? Thanks :)

I'm getting married at the Edgewood in May.  I am so excited!!!  Working with them has been amazing, I am planning from out of town and so most of my communication with them is through email, but they are great about getting right back to me, and answering my questions quickly.   I have never waited for more then 24 hours for any question that I have had.  I can give you more info once our wedding is over but so far, I would recomend them 100%.

I looked at the Edgewood for my wedding. The place is really beautiful. I got a bad vibe when I was there. We are having a destination wedding, and we spent a few days looking at places. They demanded an answer from us about putting down a deposit within less than 48 hours of our visit. They have the attitude of "well, if you aren't sure you want to have your wedding here, someone else will book it...we don't care about your business." Just one person's impression. Make sure if you decide to have your wedding there that you will be the in the North Room. The South Room has a terrible ceremony space and probably gets less attention from the staff.

Thanks for the info. jessfli, I'd love to hear more once the wedding is over.  Are you in the North room or South? When I checked the place out, I liked the North room much more (obviously because it is bigger).  Are you working with a coordinator with Edgewood or are you planning everything on your own? I only live about 3 hours away from Tahoe, but I don't know if I might need extra help from someone local.

lromeo1, did you still you Edgewood? Or did you decide to go somewhere else?

    Thanks!

We are in the north room. Ceremony on the deck.  Our guest list could not be cut down to the South room size!!  I didn't get the vibe that the previous poster did, but we booked our date over a year in advance, so there wasn't much pressure. they were very helpful in giving me lists of dates that they had available and with helping customize our bar options before I had ever booked anything with them.
I live much further away then you, but I do not have a cordinator.  I have mostly met and talked with Shannon, and she has been a huge help to me. We have only gone to Tahoe two times and we have everything booked.  One time for a venue, one time for flowers, cake, dj, and tasting.  I have one last trip planned later this month to find hair and makeup.   Most of our vendors are off the Edgewood vendor list, and they have all been great.  The DJ we are using runs the entire ceremony/reception based on the timeline i give them, so i don't really feel that i "need" a seperate cordinator.  Everyone that I have talked to about Edgewood weddings, (guests of other weddings, brides, independent vendors) have all had nothing but great things to say about how a wedding is ran at the edgewood, so i feel completely comfortable with them!
Hopefully that helps you make a decsion!!

That definitely helps. I have been in love with this venue for a few years now and can't imagine getting married anywhere else.  Thank you so much!! :)

i agree! it's beautiful! plus there are a million hotels/motels around, plus the casinos/hotels for guests to stay.

I'm looking to get married at Edgewood next year (July 2011) and they have been really great about answering my questions. We even got a really in-depth tour when I went to visit the first time.

My only hang up is that they currently don't perform lakeside ceremonies. Has anyone had a lakeside cermony with Edgewood?

    Thanks!

I am scheduled to have my reception in the South Room in July, 2011. I simply don't want to pay the North Room price tag.
But, as someone else said, the South Room ceremony area is not very lovely (too small, and overlooks a parking lot!), so we are planning to get married elsewhere and have the reception there.

I did hear from Debbie at Edgewood that they are going to try a few lakeside ceremonies this year, and pending good results, will "consider" allowing some lakeside ceremonies starting in 2011. I am soooo hoping they will just say yes! I am getting married on a Sunday and I am hoping it will be less crowded and that they will just go ahead and let us marry there.

Best of luck, and I'll keep everyone posted,

I'm also having our reception here on Sept 25th- we're in the South Room, getting married at the Catholic Church in South Shore.  I have a wonderful experience so far. I've mostly dealt with Shannon and she has been more than helpful.  We reserved about 10 months in advance so there was no pressure when booking.  We love the venue.  Oh- they also are upgrading a lot of things- new touches on the patio, just got new chairs that are beautiful and dont need chair covers, etc...

    That's my two cents!  :)

We got married at Edgewood-North Room in August of 2009 and it was the most wonderful experience.  Everyone who attended was blown away by the location and how great the staff was.  You will not be dissapointed.  Also...we got married on the deck outside the North Room and even though you're not down on the beach, you still see and hear the lake...and if there is any wind, you're more protected on the deck.  We took our pictures down on the beach so I felt like it was the best of both worlds.  Definitely let me know if you have any questions on the venue or other vendors in town...I live here on the South Shore and I'm happy to help!
