Who made their programs? and how did you do it?

I am attempting to DIY my programs. I am ready to finish everything up and think I might as well just do this. If you are making (or have made) your own, what paper did you print them on? Did you send them to kinkos? Did you add any ribbon, or any other embellishments? I am starting from scratch so any help is appreciated.

I DIY my programs. I used the Rack-cards and one of their designs from Vista print because they are cheaper than even buying the program kit from Michaels. Plus I'm so not into trying to make my own. The thought of making my own fold-over type with pretty paper makes me cringe! I freaked out at the thought. Vista print was easy!I bought ribbon and punched two holes at the top and tied a bow at the top. Voila! Done.Granted, I only had to buy like 100 programs, but it was cheaper than DIY, especially with prices of ink cartridges costing like $20 each anyways.

If you would like to see mine you can check out my wedding album at rockettreephotography.com and click on view proofs and find jessica and kevin album and the password is jesskev. The page that has the picture of the church and limo also has a picture of my programs. I did them 100% myself. I used linen paper and used a print ship program to do a three panel flyer and I typed up a cover page, one page listing the bridal party, and one page listing the wedding ceremony on it. The pages were just the columns and then I cut them on the paper cutter to make them all the same size. That was the tricky part. Then I had colored stock paper that I cut in half as my backdrop. Then I cut a piece of small ribbon the width of the linen paper and then put a decorate fastener through a little flower a bought, then through the middle of the ribbon and then through the middle of the papers. Then people just flipped them up to look through them. Everyone thought they were cute. I got all items on sale and spent about $50. Although it took me a long time to do. I had to make 200 of them. I also did my own printing. My colors were pink and navy and I did all typing in navy. I only used a little over 1 ink catridge and I refill my catridges at walmart so I spend $20 on printing and kinko's was going to charge me over $100 for colored printing. If you have any more questions just ask I know it might sound confusing. If you look at them you will understand. They turned out super cute. All supplies were bought at hobby lobby.

I DIYed mine, and then took them to the INCREDIBLY helpful people at the staples copy center to have them printed on their heavy weight "silky" cardstock the night before I flew back to Cincinnati. They were modelled after KaraMGM's programs (I loved how clean everything of her's looked), so no ribbons or any other embellishments.  Just a single piece of cardstock, printed front and back.  I'm pretty sure I have a picture of them in my married bio, and if you'd like the template for them, just send me an email at my knottie name at gmail dot com.

The place I ordered my invitations (MyJeanM) from also sells paper for you to to use for DIY.  So I ordered a pack of paper from them to match my invites.  I didn't want to spend a lot of money or time on the programs so I just made a long folded program in Microsoft Publisher (the program should be on your computer if you have Microsoft Word).  Then I had a friend who works in marketing find me a graphic that looks the the flower on my invites and I printed them at Kinkos.  They are very simple but classic like everything else for my wedding.  For my sister's wedding a few years ago we did something similar but she used one of the whole punches to cut out a leaf (it was a fall wedding) on the cover.  I have also had friends just tie a ribbon down the fold to add a little to it.  I guess it all depends how much time you want to spend it.  I guess I just figured people just throw it out when they leave, not like the invite that sits out for a month in their home.
