Routines

Smello.

I am working on adding things to my every day routine and I am forcing myself to do a new thing every week (last week it was style my hair and wear contacts and makeup, this week it was do all of that stuff and take my vitamins every day).

That stupid shiittt being said, what is your morning routine? Also, what is your nighttime (before you go to bed) routine?

I am looking for things to add to my routines. I am already stumped. I need halp.

Re: Routines

  • I don't have much of a morning routine besides the basics. Pee, brush my teeth, swallow my BC, take the dog out. I'm not gonna put makeup on unless someone is here to see it, and that's really rare. Then I drink coffee and catch up on the blogs I follow. THEN I start doing shiiiit that actually needs to be done.

    Morning Routine:
Hit snooze 4 times, then wake up.
    Wash Face/brush teeth
Do something with hair, put on eye makeup.
    Get dressed
    Pack breakfast and lunch
    Drive to work
Floss using one of those pick things while driving...probably not the safest.

    Evening routine:
    Brush teeth, wash face
Decide what to wear in the morning
Get undressed and go to bed.

I am really boring.  I have considered adding making the bed to my AM routine, but I'm pretty sure I'm far too lazy.

  • Morning routine: Up, brush teeth, read news + cup of tea.  By 7:15am, eat breakfast.  Stop at 7:30am to get dressed, make lunch and be out the door by 7:45am.

Evening routine: This is really loose but definitely involves a glass of wine (or two, please).  I also will read for a bit before falling asleep either on the couch, on my husband, or in the bed.

    I'm boring, Rosie.  Boring!
  • Besides the stuff you already listed, I try to catch 10 minutes of the news at the "top" of an hour so I can at least have an idea of what's going on in the world every morning. I have to give you props for remembering your vitamins- I always forget to take mine.

My primary nighttime routine is making sure I put on eye cream and moisturizer before bed.  Its so much easier to do it at night. I always want to read before bed but I never get there early enough to do it without passing out.

Speaking of vitamins, has anyone tried the gummy ones? Are they any good? Normal tablet vitamins sometimes hurt my stomach, but I'm worried the gummy ones arent really that great.

  • I don't have very complex routines.  I moisturize my face and hands before bed.  Do you floss?  It's hard for me to get in that routine.  I recently got a nail file that has 7 steps from coarse filing to polishing your nails, so I try to do that once a week or so, and my nails do look good (I rarely have polish on my fingernails).
  • When I was working, I got up in time only to do the absolutely necessary stuff to get myself out the door. I always wanted to be one of those super early riser get your head cleared out and do nice shiiiit in the morning people, but that's just not me.

  • I am far to lazy in the morning to actually style my hair but I'm with you on adding stuff. So far these are my routines:

Morning - Shower, Skin care (includes day serum w. SPF, moisturizer and eye firming cream, ugh.. I have wrinkles that show if I don't use it), Makeup (foundation, eye shadow/liner, blush, mascara, lipgloss), "do" my hair aka put in in a pony or bun and top it off with a headband so it doesn't look like aboslute crap. I try to remember to take my calcium and vitamin D but it doesn't happen everyday.

Night - Remove make up and cleanse skin, night serum, moisturize and more heavy duty eye firming cream. Plus the obvious stuff like brushing my teeth, flossing, etc.

  • What kind of thins are you looking to add?

    AM:
Shower, coffee, make up & hair, make bed and pack lunch and coffee to-go

    PM:
work out, shower, put on anti-aging face stuff, tea, catch up on tivo, sleep.

    basic stuff...shower, hair, yada yada
    plus:
lift 5lb dumbbells (20 each, 5 types of arm exercises)
    20 reverse crunches
    eat breakfast (protein)

seriously the lift weights and crunches maybe takes a quick 5 mins and I have M Obama arms!
  • Morning:
    Pee
    Brush teeth & use mouthwash
    Tweeze eyebrows
    Shower
Skin care - toner & moisturizer
Makeup - eyeliner & mascara, probably chapstick
    Hair
    Dress
    Coffee & breakfast

    PM:
Wash fash & use toner and moisturizer
    Pee
    Brush teeth
    Take BC
  • My routines are pretty simple.  I get up, put in my contacts (I'm blind as a bat without them), shower, get dressed, do something with my hair (usually put it up or scrunch it), scoop the cat box, take my meds, feed the cats, then eat breakfast.  I very rarely use makeup or anything like that.  My evening routine usually involves similar things, but in reverse order: take meds, take out contacts, go to bed. I'm working on changing my routine too- trying to get into a routine of working out with the xbox kinect at least every other day.  Haven't quite gotten there yet.

If by "good" you mean I have to like really make myself not eat more than I'm supposed to, then yes, they're good. I love those things. I love gummy anything though.

  • floss, shower, put workout capris on, do my makeup, contacts, then take the dog out for a 15 minute walk to let my hair air dry a bit. feed the dog, finish hair and makeup, put my work clothes on, brush my teeth,  fill my coffee cup and go.

Nightime: make lunch and set the coffee pot, was face (I usually do that the second I get home from work), put my anti-wrinkle cream on, brush teeth, read a couple pages of a book.

  • I'm like LC, I just can't wake up and go for walks and shiiit in the morning. I wake up at the last possible minute and don't do anything extra. Right now H takes out the dog, feeds him, and makes the bed.
  • I have nothing helpful to add (sorry Rosie) but I am impressed with how productive most of you ladies are in the morning. I work from home now, but when I used to go to the office I would roll out of bed with barely enough time to get clothed and get out the door. Now I wake up with enough time to un-mute my phone and punch in on time.

That was what I was going to add to the morning routine! I can't remember the name of mine but I can only find them at Walmart which is sad because I hate walmart, but they come with a green lid. They're a women's multivitamin, except they don't have iron. I need to get another vitamin for iron, but I can't do big pills like most vitamins.

    Anyway. cool story.

When I get up, I check my email, FB. Shower, teeth, make up, vitamin, hair.

Night routine is nothing but washing my face. If that. I'm lazy.

  • Morning:
Turn alarm off (always up before it freaks me out)
Turn TV on to news station
    Use  the bathroom
    Get dressed
Use master bathroom to put makeup on
Go to guest bathroom to do hair (I don't know why - I've just always done it this way!)
    Check FB/email/Nataliedee.com websites

    Work

    Evening:
    40 min. walk
    Eat
    Shower
    Watch TV/do whatever until 1-2 AM :)

Routines can be broken, but I find myself daily doing the same thing - not like I get frazzled if it gets out of order, but I do know what my body is USED to doing and when I deter from it, it's noticeable. :)
