Hey, have you ever stayed at the Sir Francis Drake hotel in San Francisco before? There's this amazing deal for $829 per person (hotel, flight, and rental car) on Hot Wire for February 10th-18th and I'm flabbergasted at the price!! :)

Wow, awesome deal!I haven't stayed there before, but I had a classmate tell me about it.   From what they told me it is a historic boutique style hotel.  They said the hotel is really nice, and the only complaint they had was because the hotel was old (but renovated) the standard rooms and bathrooms are very small.  Oh, and parking is $40 per day. What I liked most is that it is right on the Powell cable car line and it stops right outside the door.  The BART station is also just a few blocks away.  Union Square is right outside the doors and Chinatown is very close by also.  There is also a nice ballroom/bar upstairs called the Starlight Room that he told me was a lot of fun.We chose it because we wanted to experience San Francisco from the perspective of a more historic hotel and not a major chain where all the rooms look the same regardless of where you are.  Anyway, I'm not sure how much that helps, but I can tell you more firsthand experience when I get back though!

That's not too bad for parking.  There's a deal on their website for parking, which might be nice.  $40 adds up :)  Let me know what you think next month!

Yeah I saw the parking included deal when I booked.  I just couldn't justify $300 bucks for parking when you don't truly need a car when your in the city....but then again you can't do the day trips out of the city if you don't have one so I totally understand that.We actually scheduled the Redwoods and Napa/Sonoma for the end of the trip and will just pick up a car the last few days.

Oh, and I definitely will let you know how it is!   I'll make sure and take pics of the hotel and rooms for you too.

****butting in**** Mariah, I stayed there oh 5 years ago and it was fabulous.  All Kimpton properties are just so fabulous.  Make sure you go to the rooftop restaurant/bar (I think it's called The Starlight Room) and check out the view over Union Square at night, also get "The Cable Car," their specialty martini.
