Hi ktr160,I have not done my bridal shots yet, but we took our engagement pics at Mayfield Park and they turned out beautiful. It has gorgeous grounds with greenery, lily pads and even peacocks! Hope this helps. Good luck!Meredith :)

It depends on whether you want to pay or not! Probably my favorite spot is Laguna Gloria. It just feels majestic and lush and gorgeous. Dunvagen Keep is also really awesome and has many different landscapes to pick from. Can't go wrong with Zilker Botanical Gardens (flowers, paths, ponds, lovely). All of those have a fee though. If you're looking for free options, you could consider along SoCo (for a more funky, urban feel), or at the Capitol (good if it's hot or rainy that day, has some nice greenery and stone structures). Another good option people don't often think of is all around UT campus (even if you're not a Horn fan!) There's some great stone architecture, colorful doors, stairs, lawns, ivy, etc. It's a fun and diverse place for bridals.Good luck!

I have a question to go along with this....how do you maneuver all these different locations in a wedding dress?  I have a ball gown and am terrified of how much I will sweat in that dress taking my bridals.  I almost start sweating immediately when I put it on!!  Any advice?

Yikes. I think that's pretty unavoidable. When is your wedding? You could always shoot to do them in the fall or spring (ya know, the two days that Texas has those seasons). Try doing them in the evening, right around sunset. The light is better for photogs anyway, and it won't be as hot. And you could always opt for an indoor locale.

Thanks for the advice! Unfortunately (only in this situation) the wedding is in 6 wks, so I don't believe the weather will cool enough for my liking at by then lol.  But doing them in the evening would probably be my best option, since I want to take my pics at UT.

Actually, I'd suggest trying to do them early in the morning (I know that's hard)!  For example, it's 9am right now and it's 83 degrees.  Even a 2 hour shoot will put you at 11am, which will still be in the 90s.  If you do the shoot in the evening (let's say 6-8pm), you'll almost definitely be in the hundreds at that time of day.  I play softball at 6:30 and it's usually over a hundred while I'm playing and even on my way home.

I took my bridals at the Capitol. At first, I wanted to do them outside, but since I was taking them in July, that would have been impossible with the heat (I don't do well with heat at all). I LOVE my pictures and think that they turned out great. There was a lot of people at the Capitol, but most of everyone was very courteous and stayed out of the way as we shot the pics. I guess it all depends on what you want the look of them to be. I wanted more of an "antique" look in the background. GL!

Like PP said, mornings ARE really great weather wise, the problem you run into is being able to get your hair and make up done and dressed by 9 a.m.
