insurance

i am so irritated! DH and i dont have insurance. We are offered insurance through work, but the one we qualify for sucks. Like... they cover you for 1500 bucks, and then everything else is out of pocket. The good insurance you have to work 30 hours a week to qualify for, and they just keep cutting our hours, so we will never get there. its so frustrating. does everyone here get insurance through their work?

Yes.  Our employer pays our insurance for us.  If we have dependents then we have to pay for them and it costs a lot.  Since Andrew and I work at the same place we both get free insurance.  the copay is a little high but better than paying monthly.

I'm lucky enough to still be considered a full time student and eligible for my parents insurance.  By the time FI and I are married I hope insurance won't be an issue.  I have no idea what his insurance plan is like.  Now is probably a good time to ask.

if you don't mind HMO's i can tell you an insanely good deal for the two of you. some people are anti-HMO though (as, in kaiser).

My district covers both myself and my husband.  We have 3 plans to choose from. We just switched over to Kaiser and pay $110 a month for the both of us.  We have been very happy with Kaiser thus far. Since insurance rates have gone up, we switched because our other HMO plan was going to go up to $275 a month.  Our copay is $10 and all of our prescriptions are $10.

I pay $50 a month for Blue Shield. It only covers 2 office visits per year and then I have to pay out of pocket for the next $1500 and then after that they will cover me. I just pretty much got it in case anything horrible happened to me, like a car accident, so I wouldn't have to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills. I never go to the dr. anyways so this plan was good for me. I can give you my insurance guy's number. He is awesome and is an insurance guru.

Randi that's really good for Kaiser.  I know that my district pays almost $700 towards my insurance and I pay the additional $110.  I wonder why there is such a price difference??

jojo... that would be VERY helpful! its not so much about me, because i am ok with not going to the doctor. but with FI being sick so often, i am guessing he will need to go more often and probably have tests and prescriptions, so i would like something that covers alot. thanks for the advice guys =)
