FI is being so irritating!

FI is very sexist and arrogant when it comes to many things, which is the most irritating thing in the world. I will admit that men are better equipped to handle certain tasks based solely on genetics, but he definietly takes it too far. In any case, our current battle is about motorsports, quads in particular. He is convinced that no women other than pro racers could beat him on a quad. He challenged me to find someone who could, and he's willing to do it "injured and on a wrecked quad." I've only been on a quad for a few months, so I'm obviously out of the running, but do any of you ladies have suggestions?

Maybe he thinks its silly to get you going over this...you sure he's just not doing it because he thinks its funny to push your buttons? I've known quite a few arrogant guys like that before!!

I wish that were the case, but unfortunately he is dead serious.

Oh man, that would drive me crazy!  Seriously, you should find a quad forum or something and try to set that up.  :)

this would seriously piss me off.  Sorry- but I have zero patience for chauvinists.  I tend to be a bit of a feminist... (ok, maybe more than a bit). I'd say a good punch in the face would settle this. I don't ride quads- but does it even require physical strength? Tell him to lean his back on a wall and pick up a chair- then to go screw himself.you need to nip this in the butt right away before it gets any worse.

Wow, that is VERY irritating; I totally get from where you are coming. I would address it with him. His attitude is terrible. Not flaming, but do you want to raise strong, confident daughters with him? Do you want him passing on this attitude to your sons? (If you are planning on having children, that is).I will admit that men are better equipped to handle certain tasks based solely on genetics, but he definietly takes it too far.I am very traditional in that I do the cleaning and cooking, etc, but that is what fits our lifestyle. I don't believe that men are better at certain things. I think individuals are better at certain things, regardless of gender. In what field does your FI work? I think he needs to broaden his horizons and meet more amazing ladies in all fields and walks of life, not just in terms of finding a lady to beat him on a quad. That seems immature, IMHO.

I would be annoyed too.  I also know nothing about motor "sports" but I think there are very capable women in all sports.  Just because their technique or approach to the game may be different from a man's doesn't mean that they're any better or worse.  DH sometimes ticks me off when he says the WNBA is boring (although he never said, nor will he say he's a better athlete than they are).  Just because they don't slam dunk the ball and they play a truer form of the game doesn't make it any less fun to watch.

Thanks ladies! It does not require any sort of physical strength unless you get stuck somewhere, which is exactly why I think women can excel just as easily as men. I still think that men are better equipped for certain things, not saying that women can't be amazing at it, but it might take a little more work or a different approach on our part due to limitations in strength/size/etc. There are also things that are easier for women for the same reasons. For example: men naturally build more upper body strength while women are generally stronger in the lower body. I can lift just as much as many men I know, but I have to go about it differently.
