White Pizza

I was reading poli's ama thread and was disturbed by the different definitions of white pizza.REAL white pizza is ricotta and mozzarella.  Jus' sayin'.

  • Thank you, roxy.What I don't get is how Sbarro changes their white pizza by region.  Downstate NY it's correct.  Upstate NY (North Country) it's this shiitty garlic pizza with just mozz and no ricotta.  C'mon, your chain obviously knows how to make it!!  Don't deny people from white pizza goodness!

  • lol anna, always the expert.  CPK makes theirs with alfredo sauce??  I love alfredo sauce, but that ain't white pizza.btw, I'm going to try making mac and cheese from scratch.  Can you send me a FB mess with the recipe?  The sheer volume of internet recipes scares me.

  • Sucrets will break someone who gives her dry pizza.  No sauce= dry, that is how you ask for it.  I like when sometimes they put broccoli, artichoke, or spinach on white pizza.  I have seen that near the end of Lent at real Italian pizza places.  It is perfect when it is hot and they cheeses mix. 
  • That wasn't how I had it in Rome! It did have the moz on it, olive oil and basil leaves. Oh man, my mouth is watering thinking about it. Its the best pizza I've had in my entire life.

  • Our white pizzas out here generally have pesto and white cheeses. One place has a ranch type sauce incorporated into the mix. Personally, I'm a red sauce kinda gal.
  • Whenever there is a discussion about pizza, it's so depressing. I'm so boring - dough, red sauce, voila.

  • Seriously.Actually, my fave pizza was by a theater I used to work at on LI.  Fresh mozz and slices of tomato with some tomato paste stuff, drizzled with a balsamic reduction.  Mmmm.  I miss that place.My fave pizza place in the theater district closed down and was replaced by John's.  So sad.

  • I doubt it stands up to your standards, sucrets, but my fave of frozen white pizza is this: http://frozen.cpk.com/CT-white.html Apparently it has "spinach and garlic atop mozzarella, fontina, parmesan and pecorino romano cheeses." No ricotta, sorry!
  • Pizza is my life force.  Any and all pizza, but especially into the thin and crispy lately.

  • See, the ricotta is key.  It amuses me that I was so against white pizza when I was a kid.  What was I thinking?  Cheese and more cheese?  Yes, please.

  • Roxy - It's sort of like fried dough, but after a few pieces it gets old! Sucrets - I've never had it, but do pizza places usually have that? I'm so used to scraping the cheese off of everything. My vote never counts for toppings. BOooo.

  • I sent the recipe.  It's not hard at all and once you make it, you'll be able to wing it next time.

  • gg - even *I* can make it.  Buy a premade pizza crust.  Put on pizza sauce and cheese.  Bake for whatever the crust directions say.  Voila!

  • My fave pizza place in the theater district closed down and was replaced by John's. So sad.  Where was it?  I remember a really good place in that area.  The slices were $1.00 and it was so good. 
  • Teatro Pizza, tiny tiny place, mirrors on all the walls, red counters lining it.
