  • I'm a nurse.. I should know this... but what's a colonic? Is it some drink that gives you bad diarrhea (which can screw with your bacteria), or is it some suppository thing? Or... ?

  • Another thing you can try is doing a European body wrap - I know a lot of people on here are totally against that too because they say it just dehydrates you, but I've done them a few times and have never felt dehydrated after, lost inches, and definitely noticed a difference in the way my dress fit after doing them - I'd suggest doing one now to see how it affects you and then if it helps at all do it about 2 days before the wedding (you can't shower for 24 hours after which is why I suggest 2 days)One reason your dress may not fit is even though youre losing weight, you may be changing the shape of your body with all the exercise you're doing and bulking up areas that cause the dress to fit differently??  I'd have them measure you again and compare them to the original measurements and then to your dress measurements as well - if there was a screw up, they owe you a dress.

  • What? Enemas? Seriously people... seriously. I'm incredibly disturbed that people would do that to themselves because they think it would make them lose weight (which it might temporarily... but is a totally stupid idea). You've got to have some serious issues (of the mental health variety) to do that for weight loss.*shudders*

  • Hi! I would suggest a happy medium to all of this. 1. Definitely make sure that the bridal shop ordered you the right size. If they didn't, obviously, it's their responsibility to get you the right size. 2. I would suggest continuing to work out and run (that's great exercise!) but make sure that you're eating enough. In 30 days, it's reasonable to lose 8 pounds or so. 3. Go to a couple of stores and look for the best gurdle/spanx/ etc. Hopefully, if the store can't get you the proper size, the combination of a healthy 8 pound loss and some spanx will get you into your dress. And of course, you have your back up plan of getting something off the rack.
  • I agree with all the PPs...you are not taking in enough caloires.  But at this point, you don't need hte extra stress of trying to lose that much weight in a short time.  I would demand the bridal shop to help you.  They measured you and have your measurements on file.  I would have them take your current measurements and prove that you are smaller than you were and it was unprofessional of them to order this size.  They should at least get you a refund for their mistake.  Then just check out ones that you can buy off the rack (david's bridal) and from another bride on trash to treasure.  Chances are you can find a very similiar dress in cyperspace somewhere. GL
  • Also, what about making the dress a corset back?  Is the style one that allows for that?  If so, that'd easily give you some extra width so you don't have to go crazy and starve yourself in the month before your wedding.
  • Um. . . did someone seriously suggest eating only 700 calories a day and working out rigorously? Have you guys ever seen photos of Holocaust survivors? Because that's what you're going to look like, but in a pretty white dress.I'm sorry, I know OP asked for advice, but if she was looking for advice to starve herself, she should be able to figure that out for herself. As far as the Biggest Loser is concerned: A) those people are under 24/7 Doctor supervision and have medical teams on site should they need help. They also undergo medical exams before starting to make sure they can handle it. B) they do NOT eat just 700 cals a day. Plus, they lose so much weight because they're all over 200 pounds to start and have been completely sedentary, so the amount of exercise they do drops pounds super fast.
  • So at about 1 month before my wedding, my dress came in and it was an abomination. Didn't fit AT ALL. Turns out the shop messed up and gave me another dress from the designer, cut for someone else. The dress was FedExed back to the designer, who made me a new one in 3 days, and sent it back. See what you can do about getting a new dress, it is absolutely possible.
  • I'd just like to point out that I've done some of the things Novodca suggested.  I was at a healthy weight and had no health issues and my heart tried to stop.  I was in the ER and then the hospital for an electrolyte imbalance and heart issues (that I never ever had before)  You have no idea how your body will react.  You will look horrible in that dress, if you even make it that far.  So not worth it.
  • Wow, I can't beleive I missed this whole thread... That is bad advice and if you listen to it things are not going to end well. Go figure out the dress business with the shop and remember this is about getting in shape not losing weight or fitting in a dress. Starving yourself is not an option. If you want that advice to be reassured that your behavior is acceptable you shouldn't be able to get it here...
  • Hi Girls, I know I haven't been here in a few weeks,  I lost my internet service... long story.  To the OP: Please do not do anything crazy with your diet, and fluid intake. If you cut sodium to very low levels and drink lots of water, you can kill yourself. Heart attack, or heart failure due to the imbalance of electrolites (sodium, potassium, chlorides) in your system. ASK ANY RN OR MDIf you do decide to do this crazy diet and fluid thing, I implore you to check with your doc to see EXACTLY what the potential health risks are. If you decide to do this, do it under a doctors supervision. Pay special attention to the electrolite balance, it is vital to heart health. DO NOT CUT YOUR SODIUM out and drink lots of fluids. ALSO>>>You could get a raging kidney infection from drinking too much water by flushing out all the good bacteria from the kidneys. There are way too many potential risks to do this without medical supervision.
  • kerribr86 posted just before I did and that is what I am talking about, you could stop your HEART because of electrolite imbalance. I implore you to please don't do anything crazy. Your FI wants to marry you not bury you.
