I am not that familiar with the south end of town. But there are all sorts of fun things to do in Columbus.

There are some nice restaurants in the Polaris and Easton areas. Some of the other ladies may be better at naming specific restaurants as H and I live out of state currently. (We have plans to move back soon - yay!)

As far as movie theaters, you basically have AMC and Regal. The AMC theaters on at Lenox, Dublin, and I can't remember the others right now. The Regal is off of Georgesville Rd on the southwest side of Columbus.

if you love movies (as Mr.Owl and I do), you should consider getting a wexner center for the arts membership. they have a $50 (for two people for a year) membership that allows you to go to their galleries and films for free. also, they have a partnership with the gateway theater and show awesome classic films and quirky new stuff and stuff that is shown at cannes and sxsw. you should do it! :)

If you like food, try the Mitchell's restaurants for happy hour. I haven't been out for it for awhile, but we used to go and order a bunch of appetizers (half price) and cheap drinks. It gives you a good chance to try their food for a cheaper price.

I love Piano Bar downtown for something different to do as well.

    Welcome to Columbus :)

Check out the Short North. It has a ton of restaurants and shops. Every first Saturday night is Gallery Hop and it's one of the most fun and inexpensive things to do in Columbus and makes a great "date" night! :)

The Piano Bar is awesome. We went bar hopping there for my bach party.

Gosh, I miss home. Only a few short months until we move back. ::fingers crossed::

Ahhh, I love movies too!  If you like independent movies, you have to check out the Drexel movie theater in Bexley!  It is a cute old school theater, and they show all sorts of indie and international films.  Also, Studio 35 is a wonderful little gem in Clintonville.  It only has one screen, but they do lots of throw back and cult classics for their midnight showings, which is always fun.  Plus, the first Saturday of every month, they show the Rocky Horror Picture show!  Lastly, the Gateway Film Center has to best selection of movies in Columbus.  It is a newer theater (built about 5 years ago I think), and they have tons of screens so there is always a good variety.  They do a lot of fun, throw-back movies on the weekends too.  For example, I saw White Christmas there in December and Sixteen Candles there last month!

And the best part: all of the theaters above have cafes in them!  So you can get a beer and a pizza along with your popcorn :-).
