Hawaii Honeymoon?

Hi,My FI and I are planning our HM and we are hoping to go to Hawaii. Does anyone have any advice as to which island would be best to visit in September? We are also looking for a reputable TA. Any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

Re: Hawaii Honeymoon?

  • we are going to the big island and staying at the Royal Kona village...these huts, meals included.  We are really big into hiking, and being active and the big island fit the bill.  My ta is Rhonda at VIP Vacations. She is recommended by the hawaii tourism board, is all knowing about hawaii and doesn't charge fees, will match the online sites out there and is really fast at responding. Rhonda@travelbyvip.com
  • FI and I just booked out HM to Maui and Kauai. Went to TA but felt they were quoting a too high price. Went home and did my own research, saved over $1000 from TA price by using my AAA membership. Just a suggestion...

  • There is no answer to which island is "best" to visit (in September or any month), they are all great year-round. The best way to figure out which island is the best for you is to do a little research since everyone's favorite island is subjective to their preferences - not yours. All six islands have different personalities and have unique things to offer. The best thing to do is to figure out what you want to DO once you get there and choose the island(s) that has the activities you want to do. There are some great resources for figuring out the vibe of each island and the activities on each: Get a free Hawaii travel planner from the state of Hawaii: gohawaii.com Take FI to Barnes & Noble (or whatever bookstore is near you) and flip through the Revealed series of books by Andrew Doughty. There are Revealed books for the four most popular islands to visit: Kauai, Oahu, Maui and the Big Island of Hawaii. These books are excellent because they not only describe each area of the island but they list nearly every activity/attraction plus offer suggestions for the best ones. Once you pick your island(s), it's the only guidebook you'll need. Are there any specific activities you are looking to do? Every island has great beaches, amazing scenery, awesome hiking opportunities, etc.
  • P.S. Winterwed...please note that the all-inclusive on the Big Island is called the Kona Village Resort. The Royal Kona Resort is a totally different resort and definitely not as nice as the Kona Village Resort (and Royal Kona Resort is not all-inclusive).
  • All of them are nice. They are better if you know what you are looking for and what you are expecting. Google "Hawaii activities September" or "Calendar" instead of September to see if there are any specific events you want to go to.  That may help narrow down your choices. You can book yourself through expedia, travelocity, etc if you want to do a little research.
  • Hubby and I went to the Big Island and Maui and fell in love with both and most likely go back to those two. We used a AAA travel agent.
