RSVP's - I'm getting worried...

So we have been getting our RSVP's back pretty well, but I'm getting worried... We have hardly any no's! Our venue can seat 250 for dinner and we invited a total of 300 (out of state, out of country included) figuring at LEAST 50 wouldn't come but so far we sent out about 140 invites, 11 back as no's; 65 yes's. And we were only figuring children for the immediate family and the WP and SO many have included their children... I'm thinking we are in trouble... I should've listened to everyone who said never count that people won't come, but come on - really, if it stays at that ratio that is like 22 no's out of 140 - that's like only 15% no's?!? Anyone else have this issue early on with RSVP's? Our due date is 9/9 so there is still time but I'm just starting to worry a bit...Am I worrying about nothing here???

    I kinda understand where you are coming from.  We have gotten back 60 yes's and only 2 no's.  I was surprised! I don't think you should worry about it yet though, you still have a couple weeks!

    From what I've heard, most of the declines come at the end. People aren't itching to send if back if they can't come. ;-) (Or perhaps are trying to see if they can.) All the numbers in your post are confusing though...if you get 15% declines, that's almost 50 people...that's what you said you figured initially? So I'm missing the problem? (Regardless, I think you'll get more than 15% declines with a 300-person guest list.)If people add on their kids, you'll need to call them and explain that you didn't invite their kids. Otherwise it's going to be pandemonium with a LOT of uninvited guests.

    Let me clarify my numbers... Yes 250 is the max but we wanted to be a bit under that for better space. We we figuring our MAX number would be 250 but that it would more than likely be closer to 225... Which is IDEAL.My parents are paying for catering and they are softies... They want to wait to see how many respond yes/no before they tell people that put their kids on the RSVP that they can't bring them... I REALLY wish I would have seen the way to do the reponse card that says:AcceptsDeclinesWe have __ seats reserved for you.It really made it obvious if children were/were not allowed and made restricting the guest list very easy...

    The majority of my 'no's' came after the rsvp deadline (or right on the due date).   So it's normal to get all the 'yes' rsvps initially.  You mentioned that guests have included their children - but my question is how did you address the invite?...if you just addressed to Mr and Mrs Smith - then you can follow up and explain that there was only 2 seats reserved in their name.  That will solve some of the children count.  But if you put Smith family on the invite - then that's a different story.  I would wait till 9/9 and see what happens.   Good luck,
