Did you use an aisle runner?

I'm having an outdoor wedding. I didn't want an aisle runner because one of those really nice cloth ones was NOT in the budget, and I don't want to walk down the aisle on a tattered piece of paper or plastic that fell apart before I even got there.My parents bought a plastic one from Michaels and think I should use that, so my dress doesn't get dirty.I'm all for not having a dirty dress, but do you think the aisle runner will hold up to my wedding party walking down it first?My parents assumed it would get rolled out AFTER the wedding party went down the aisle and I'd be the first to walk on it. Is that normal? I feel like that would be an interruption.Any input would be great. IDK what to do.

I attended a wedding this spring in which they used a plastic runner. All you heard throughout the entire procession was "zip" "zip" "swish" - the sound of heels and dresses on the runner as they came down the aisle. I would look into a "cloth" type runner. Michael's carries them as well so maybe your parents could just exchange it. I purchased ours from there, it had a swirl type pattern on it and held up very well to traffic. PIB A dirty dress is inevitable. The underside and hem is going to take the worst of it. Someone actually stepped on my train on the way out of church. I had a huge black footprint on it! Thankfully it tucked up in the gown when it was bustled and you couldn't see it!Best of luck!
