P & E Etiquette

Specifically, I want to know about etiquette for posting to this board.  I can tells lots of you are regulars here (plus, I've lurked and seen the same people frequently), so how does a new person approach joining in on things here?  Is it weird for new people to give advice?  Should I just shut up, sit back, and enjoy the show?  Also, should I put a pic up to help people get to know me?  And should I stop asking questions? ;)

Re: P & E Etiquette

  • This post was your first mistake.
    image
  • just start posting if you have something useful and/or funny to contribute.advice is good, being a postwhore is notthat's fine too.Yes.Yes!
  • First you should read the post from Knot Annie about being "New Here". Then you should lurk a bit so you can avoid asking stupid questions and getting flamed. And you should never ever delete anything you post (unless it contains personal info that needs to be gone)
  • Yes, put a pic up!  Pictures make people more real and recognizable.  I recognize most people by their siggy pics.
  • judging by your first post, I vote you shut up. Go through the last week and find the lurkers thread. Anything by shannonalise would be helpful.

  • Sorry- I know it's kind of a ridiculous question, I just thought I'd get an idea from the regular's perspectives of how to "fit in".  That's not really covered by the newbie guide.  But I will indeed sit down and STFU now.  :)  No new posts from me today, promise.

  • My post about inviting coworkers, crfische?  I thought that was a good post- I got lots of helpful responses!

  • Ok, see. That was a joke. Put up a picture and just post where you want to. Don't make an intro. If one is requested from you, Mandy will take care of the details.

  • Join in on the discussion - don't be too thin-skinned or defensive.  You will build up a tolerance.  If you just sit back and shut up - you can't participate and you'll miss out on some really awesome ladies.  Please post a pic - it helps people identify you - just don't make it too big.
  • Asking how to fit in is sort of the opposite of fitting in. A picture always helps people remember you and can be a fun conversation topic. Just make sure it isn't too big.Instead of calling yourself out like this, maybe post an actual question (and make sure it hasn't been asked in the last day or so). Or just go ahead and start getting in on the fun.Just don't be lame.

  • Don't do an intro thread. Put a pic in your sig so that people can remember who you are. It's totally cool to post advice if you have it. You seem like a nice person, so please stick around!

  • P & E Etiquette is repetitive, just sayin'.Pic up any picture other than a ticker, I have no idea who people are that just have tickets in their signatures.Oh and new people giving advice is only weird when it is completely ridiculous.

  • Spelling fails... I meant Put up any pic other than a ticker (not ticket). That is all for now.

  • First don't do what you just did.Put up a picture.Join in on some topics :-)
  • Thanks.  I do realize I'm a complete nerd for even asking this question.  I JUST WANT TO BE LIKED DAMNIT! Hehe.  Oh, and I did mean it like "Planning & Etiquette Etiquette".  Cause I wanted the etiquette for the planning & etiquette board.  It's right.  Not like ATM Machine, which bugs me.

  • Cute picture but it's too small. I can't read it! It can be a bit bigger than that if you want.

  • I fail at life for posting this thread.
    image
  • agk- I made it on tinypic, but the only options were avatar size, then message board size.  MB size was way too big.  Not sure how to make it another size, but i will play with it.  I have nothing but time on my hands today.
    image
  • No you don't fail at life because you get that ATM Machine is incorrect, and I like that. I also knew that you meant the etiquette of the board, it is still repetitive. Oh and I don't think that etiquette is the correct word... maybe P&E Rules and Procedures.

  • I love how most of the people who posted in this thread really haven't been posting here long enough to give advice. Coughsaltypeanutcoughcocoreocoughcacoffercough.
