Met with DJ last night!

Our DJ is Brian Childs and we finally met with him for the first time last night.  When I booked him, I strictly went off the 100% positive reviews he's received and shipped him my signed contract and deposit.I must say I really like him.  FI does too.  He's very down to earth and I feel extremely comfortable that he'll do an excellent job at our reception. He's also soooo helpful!  He's going to set up a separate system outside just for our ceremony.  We're pretty non-traditional in that we aren't doing the bouquet toss and garter toss and cake cutting (no cake) and he's excited that we just "want to get the party started"  Anyway - after last night's meeting, I really feel like that music is DONE!  I'm so excited to have that off my checklist.

awesome!!! I had my meeting with my DJ on Monday night and I also feel so good about things. The DJ is such a huge part of the reception!

We booked Brian as well! Our initial contact was made because of his reviews on this board. Once we met with him it wasn't even a question, we booked him. He is also doing a separate system for our ceremony. He was really accomodating. And his prices were great!

Did he charge more for the ceremony setup?  I just wonder because he didn't mention it and I figured if he was going to charge more he'd at least give me a heads up...

So is he doing the music for your ceremony as well?  I'm using him, but I can't figure out how to work a few things out.  My problem is that our ceremony and reception are in the same location.  So in order to be able to set up an hour before the ceremony like he said he will need.  He will need to be there an hour before the wedding.  I haven't talked to him about this, but I just wasn't sure how it would be handled.  And since we will need music played during the ceremony it makes sense to use him.

He's awesome! We are having him do both ceremony and reception as well. We are skipping all the garter and bouquet jazz too and seems like his style fits perfectly with that- no games or the like. He also has promised us that he will get on the dance floor himself to get the party going if need be (a fear of mine has always been to get married and then no one stays for the party). He is not charging additional for the ceremony. We booked him when he was still offering unlimited time, so we just tacked that hour on. Ivory, if your ceremony and reception are inthe same place, that's perfect for this set up. If you meant to write they are NOT in the same place, it'd be difficult I would think for him to do both unless you are able to give him time in between where maybe you could set up an IPod to play some music to greet your guests until he's set up again?

Well that's what I was thinking, but I didn't know if he actually did ceremonies.  But now that you guys say that it makes me feel much better about it.  It's a lot less stressful if he does both and we don't have to worry about something for the ceremony since it's in a tent theirs not any sound system.  Thanks for the help.

Our venue has a great sound system, but since they do charge extra for it, Brian is going to use his own (which he has used there before and knows will work just fine). I wish I could remember what he said about all of his equipment, but I do know he's fully equipped.
